BOOK REVIEW- A Cold Dark Place: (Cold Justice Book 1) by Toni Anderson

FBI agent Mallory Rooney spent the last eighteen years searching for her identical twin sister’s abductor. With a serial killer carving her sister’s initials into the bodies of his victims, Mallory thinks she may finally have found him.

Former soldier Alex Parker is a highly decorated but damaged war hero with a secret—he’s a covert government assassin who hunts predators. Now he’s looking into the murders too.

When danger starts to circle Mallory, Alex is forced out of the shadows to protect her and they must race against the clock to find the killer. But the lies and betrayals that define Alex’s life threaten to destroy them both—especially when the man who stole her sister all those years ago, makes Mallory his next target.

All the books can be read as standalone titles. Hot romantic stories with thrilling plots and guaranteed happily ever afters—they do contain strong language and steamy times.

This story was of course highly emotional to read and starts out intense and keeps on going that way.   We also get to read the unsub's unbalanced thoughts and some of his ways.  I have to say that although, some of his abuse was pretty creepy.  As well written as it was it goes to the depths that are probably not  something most of us want detailed.

Mallory has had such a connection to her kidnapped twin but also suffers from survivors guilt as well.  I can't say that her grieving mother was much help in that area as driven as she was.

Alex was one huge surprise, one that I enjoyed unwrapping.  Mallory and Alex not "dating" or getting into a relationship was quite the dance.  At least until they catch each other with it's "just sex".  Way to lie to yourself ! They are definitely hot for each other,as we see a whole lot of their bed antics.  It's also not that hard to see the romance that is developing between them.

Put your seat-belt on for a stunning ending !! It has quite the surprises from many sides.  Now "A Cold Dark Promise" is on my TBR pile.  I just might need to take a breath or two before I start that one although it is pulling at me.
