BOOK REVIEW- Secret Enemy (Red Stone Security Series) by Katie Reus

He thinks she’s out of his league.

Lyosha Vasiliev met Mila by chance, and now she’s all he thinks about. But the two couldn’t be more different, so Lyosha won’t go there. As a security expert, he skirts the law on the regular. Unlike Mila, the newest employee at Red Stone Security, who spends her free time volunteering at an animal shelter. Despite his determination to stay away from her, when it becomes clear his past has come back to haunt him—and poses a threat to her—Lyosha immediately steps in. And he’ll cross any line to keep her safe.

But he can’t seem to walk away.

Mila met Lyosha when he brought in a half-starved stray cat to the shelter she volunteers at. He tries to act tough—and okay, he is. He should be the last man she wants, but she loves his sexy tattoos, gruff demeanor, and that he has a marshmallow inside that only she gets to see. When someone threatens her, he’s convinced it’s linked to his past. He’s made it clear that he’ll protect her with his life—but he won’t give her his heart. Not when he blames himself for bringing danger to her doorstep. Except Mila isn’t the kind of woman who walks away from what she wants. And Lyosha finds himself unwilling to let her go without a fight.

5 STARS

I Loved both Mila and Lyosha.  Couldn't have found better people with such depth to their personalities, different upbringings and lifestyles.

Mila's family was wonderful in their loud, wild, outgoing, loving ways. But Mila even mentions that you don't want to get on the wrong side of her sisters.  If you hurt Mila, the "baby" of the family, you will hurt.  And it will be creative, which made me smile.

Lyosha hasn't been as blessed with family.  His is a family that has developed.  Starting with his boss, Viktor, his wife and daughter.  That group alone was not only loyal but sometimes funny.   And to this group of people he cares about is Nala, his adopted kitten.  Plenty of action, surprises, and romance.  With Lyosha totally obsessed with Mila just like him confessed to himself but he was still dragging his feet for awhile.  Mila knew what she wanted from the first but figured, he was so out of her league.  Didn't keep her from wanting more though.  So there is some rocky times between the two for a while.  Through it all though, Lyosha was all in when it came to protecting her, even when he put her in the "friendship zone." Yeah, good luck with that.

A good, enjoyable Epilogue brings it to the end. And it's safe to say that I enjoyed it all.

I received a free copy of this book and this is my honest thoughts about it.
