BOOK REVIEW- My Mafia Lie: A Fake Marriage Best Friends to Lovers Mafia Romance by [Ella Adair]

Diving into a fake marriage with my emotionally damaged but smokin' hot bestie is a recipe for trouble.

He's the one night stand type.

I'm the looking for "something serious" type.

But Matteo has an ability to awaken a fire that no other man has ignited.

Just looking at him sparks an inferno.

Ever since we were teenagers I secretly dreamed of marrying him one day.

So when he needed a pretend wife to avoid jail, I stepped into the role without hesitation.

As our fake marriage grows familiar, the line between reality and make-believe blurs. Pretending to be with Matteo feels strangely natural, almost too easy.

I can't help but wonder how the same hands that caress my face with tenderness could effortlessly carry out unspeakable acts of violence for the merciless mob.

I wonder if his feelings are genuine or just another charade.

This fake marriage may lead him to run away. Being with him is dangerous. But I'm willing to embrace the risk, the thought of losing him weighs heavier than the secrets we carry.

4 STARS

This was a different kind of story which made me like it.  Both Caterina and Matteo kept me interested in how things would turn out for them. Also that they had been close friends for so many years before they married  Cat was feisty, smart and could go toe-to-toe with Matteo when needed.
Matteo on the other hand was known as The Jackal in his business world but with Cat he had always been the protector.
The emotions were there in the story and the world building was excellent.  You can also expect a fair amount of marital sex at some point as well as some close calls of of Matteo going to prison. How that all ends up involves quite a few surprises with at least one jaw dropping one.
Thank you author for the Epilogue since I always enjoy those and this one was a good one.
