I really liked and enjoyed this book. It had great main characters and really great supporting ones too. Secrets, mysteries and dangers were also a part of the story. It was an emotional story as well. And the mysteries and secrets were NOT just about Julia and Matt's romance. Although that alone was a doozy.
Matt's childhood was a horrendous one. His father and his mother just brought out the worst in each other and caused one huge battlefield in the lives of their children until they divorced. Matt remembers not only strife but also harsh punishments brought from his father's fists. He does NOT want to return to his "family home" not even just for a moment also because he doesn't want any part of his father's control and manipulation. But his father found a prod to entice him back and the question is can he be trusted or is this another scheme? Matt is just going to fly in, find out what the announcement is and fly back out. Yeah, the plans of man, as you can see in the blurb things are not going to go exactly as planned.
Julia what a great woman, with such a close, loving family. She might not know much about her birth family but her adopted one was fierce, and colorful. Not a dull moment around them. They helped her become strong again and helped her out of the dark pit that she almost succumbed to when she was told Matt was dead. She had overcome a lot and accomplished a lot which is why I called her a great woman.
Matt and Julia will get their H.E.A. but of course it won't be a walk in the park. Powerful Epilogue with a great twist.
What a pretty good cover for the eBook, right? I just had to mention that also.
"I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book via Netgalley and this is my honest opinion.
