BOOK REVIEW- Buried in his Boots (Merry Summerfield Cozy Mysteries #5) by Kristie Klewes

Brilliant house. Amazing views. I thought I’d hit the house-sitting jackpot until Claude, the big beagle lookalike, unearthed a body from behind a collapsing wall in the yard.
First we saw the distinctive Russian boots that proved to be a truly gruesome trophy. This led to all sorts of speculation.

Hi – I’m Merry Summerfield, freelance book editor and house-sitter of Drizzle Bay. I’ve been tipped out of my beachside haven because it’s now a crime scene - but do you think that’ll stop me trying to discover what really happened?
The murderers won’t be Dex and Dom - the short, bald, house-renovators - because this is their lovely new home. Boastful Brett Royal from the Whale Watch boat is talking far too much and bringing the murder to everyone’s attention, so it’s probably not him. My brother’s new equestrian girlfriend? But she seems so
nice! The semi-criminal boys being re-trained on the forestry land in the hills? Hmmm…

Suggestions come thick and fast, but nothing seems quite right. Detectives Bruce Carver and Marion Wick are inhot pursuit of the truth, but they won’t solve the mystery of whether my summer flirtation will be with Vicar Paul or Black-ops John. That remains as murky as the mud on Lord Drizzle’s farm. Maybe a Christmas concert will help?

This fun cozy mystery is full of your favorite people from the other books in the series. Plus some new ones, a puzzling murder, a touch of romance, and laugh-out-loud lines. Be happy – Merry is back!

I really liked Merry and I think this was my first introduction to her and this series.
She said, "I'm just naturally curious". And the person she was with responded, "And it gets you into trouble." I said "person" because there was more than one person who said that her curiosity got her in trouble. And they were spot on about that.  She gets into some hilarious things as well as some dangerous ones as well.  Past dangers also get mentioned where her curiosity led her.  Even though I hadn't read those it was easy to follow.
I got to know Merry's brother, Graham which I enjoyed especially since he's such an opposite to Merry.
In one particular case, I loved how it was written when it came to a specific mystery how Merry thought.  Her blood ran cold with dread.  Her brain ran hot with curiosity. Another favorite was when a person wanted to run something by her because she had a "devious brain."
Merry had some interesting men floating around her but I was hoping Merry would find "her man."
Fabulous twist at the end and I liked that.

BOOK REVIEW- Three Cowboys and a Puppy by Kate Pearce

Romance

Description

In this sweet and sexy friends-to-lovers romance from the New York Times bestselling author, it takes an adorable little rescue dog to show a hard-headed cowboy how to win over the woman he loves . . .

With a thriving cattle ranch and good friends all around, there’s not much Luke Nilsen would change about his life. But when his buddy Noah’s sister comes to visit, Luke begins to wonder if it’s time to change himself—and become the kind of man a sophisticated city woman like her would want. Maybe his female bestie, Bernie Cooper, who runs the local coffee shop, can use her womanly expertise and give him a man makeover . . .

Bernie thinks Luke is just fine the way he is—more than fine, even—aside from being blind to the fact that Bernie is perfect for him. But what’s a BFF to do? Perhaps it’s time for her to finally get over Luke and move on. Yet as Luke helps organize their small town’s Adopt a Shelter Dog auction event, one sweet little puppy seems to be on a mission to help Luke realize that the right woman has been right by his side all along . . .

4 STARS

Probably the first thing that comes to mind is that this was a sweet story.   With all the animals especially the puppies and the close community of family and friends. Of course it also WASN'T syrupy sweet, (which I appreciated) because there are challenges.  One of those being the years long friendship between the two main characters, people that I liked.  Things are shifting between them and Luke and Bernie aren't sure where they are headed.  It leads to some confusing times between them but it also helps Bernie set some boundaries with Luke.  Something that she's never done before, because remember they have been best friends. Luke is "pretending" to everyone that he is just fine, that he's the same calm, got it together guy that he was before leaving for the military.   Even though people who care about him, can tell he isn't and needs help for his PTSD.  That adds another element to the story that as you can tell adds more problems.
I enjoyed Bernie and her "all in" passion for different things.  Some of her family, especially her mom is worried that she will burn herself out doing too much.  Adding yet another struggle to be worked out in the story.
There were other people in the story that were enjoyable. Other people working out their problems, some even unique who were marching to their own drum.
I don't want to add to much more because "why spoil the story for someone else?"
I will say that I liked how the book ended.

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- The Warrior Soul: (Five Powerful Principles to Make You a Stronger Man of God) by Jerry Boykin & Stu Weber

LIFE IS A BATTLE, AND WE ARE ALL SOLDIERS.

We may not wear a uniform, eat in a mess hall, or dodge actual bullets for a living, but we are in a war—a very crucial one.  Just walk into any room of people and you’ll find immeasurable pain and wounds.  On the outside we wear our camouflage well, but on the inside, deep within our own souls, we realize life is conflict.  It is traceable to a single source:  Satan, the adversary of our souls.

Written by two US Army Green Berets,
The Warrior’s Soul provides a guide for how to apply the techniques of a true warrior in the spiritual realm by emphasizing five core elements:

  • A cause greater than self—why we fight
  • A settled memory—the link between history and current circumstances
  • A personal intensity—eager for challenges and undistracted by personal issues
  • An unflagging optimism—an absolute commitment to never surrender
  • A deep camaraderie—a personal commitment to fellow warriors

True warriors are willing to stand when others bow.  With this first-rate preparation for spiritual battle you can stand strong and see victory.

What a powerful book.  Good for all Christians, men AND women.  And I say that as a woman.  Even if you only glean a small amount from this book, it's worth it.  One of my favorites has to be the chapter called, "The Power of the Ten-Second Prayer." It recalls times when there wasn't any time for long winded prayer, it was time for a quick desperate, heartfelt "we need help now Lord."  There was one particular time that was given. I liked how it was said that after offering everything he had in that statement, it was basically, "now it's over to you God." And he didn't forget to thank God when it was answered.

The scripture references are so good seen through the eyes of military warriors.  Makes you think. So does some of the experiences that are shared.

Another chapter that I felt worth mentioning was "Unflagging Optimism".  It's talking about "being in the zone" and at least 2 things that can take you out, although we know there are others too.  Two little words, fear and anger.  Excessive fear and excessive anger just knock us out of the zone.  Blurring our vision, robbing of our potential and sapping our strength.  The antidote being optimism and confidence (formed in God).

This was just a quick taste of some of the nuggets that I enjoyed but there was so much more.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was mentioned that a song by Toby Keith's, "If I were Jesus" on Shock'n Y'all CD made a big impact.   Another song on that album is "American Soldier" that he felt was worth the mention too.

Chapter 6 has an intro from a Ancient Near Eastern Proverb that hit me:

I you dwell in the past you lose an eye.  If you forget the past you lose both eyes!

When I chose this book to read I hoped I wasn't making a mistake. Why?  I would be jumping into a series, but not having read any of the other books first. But I was worrying for nothing, it was great and easy to follow.  There is quite a few people that pop up in the story BUT it was so well written it wasn't confusing at all. Add in some great animals as well, especially that one K-9 Greta with her handler Collins.  What a great K-9 Greta was, more versatile than anyone expected.

Bree and Matt Flynn are great as a team both personally and professionally.  I enjoyed that so much.  Even down to Matt being so good with the kids that Bree was raising.  That would be Bree's murdered sister's children. That would be 16 year old son, Luke and 6 year old Kayla.  They added a richness to the story, as a family and as Bree tries to protect them when they are threatened. Dana has been helping Bree and her family as a nanny but so much more as they view her as family too.

Another "team" that I enjoyed was, Dana and Matt's brother Nolan Flynn.  They are good friends who support each other but there's some love sparks there too.  I loved that Nolan was a "patient" man about that.

You want a intense story, with surprises as the dangers mount and some romance too?  This story has it and was way better than I hope for.  The biggest surprise comes towards the end.  You'll never guess who is after Dana and why.  I always love that in a story. Plus I loved how things ended at the end with all of the families.

First off, I want to say that I fully believe that God is sovereign.   However, scripture also mentions that God has given us delegated authority to work with Him in the earth. This book may not be for everyone but I was able to dig out many nuggets of truth from it about the different ways that we can pray. This is a serious look into the ways of prayer but was written in a relatable way with scripture and some testimonies as well.

A statement that was mentioned that I related to was when asking a question of the Lord that the right answer began with asking the right question." For me, I actually asked at least once before, what question do I need to be asking, that I haven't yet?

Have you ever been called stubborn?  That a good thing when you allow God to use it as a righteous force called persistence or endurance.  That's covered under the section "The Power of Persistence." I liked seeing stubbornness used in a positive way, in God of course.

I guess my final words would be since this book is so good, take what you can and let the rest go for now.  Hey, you may need it later and be ready for more of it later.

I read this book in an older version but it's still a pretty handy one at that.  Good information for younger Christians and a good re-check for those older in their walk with God. At least it was for me.  It made me realize I let a few things slip away and they needed to be picked back up again.

I really loved the explanation of pleading the Blood (of Jesus) was NOT begging God for anything.  The word "plead" is a legal term like when you are in a court of law before a judge. He asks how do you plead? Guilty or not guilty?  But because in the higher, heavenly court you can declare according to the Bible, "I plead the Blood."You are standing on the shed blood of Jesus.

There is also scripture to back up what is shared along with some of the author's family experiences. On a final note, she brings up the fact that you and your children do not automatically get the presence of God and His protection.  You have to go after it and get it in deep about the Blood of Jesus and that you have a covenant.

 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

**You can charge your angels to go forth on your behalf saying:  I charge you angels, in the name of Jesus to watch over my children today, to go before them to protect them and  keep them from all harm.  Then zip your lip from speaking any negative things that would bind their hands from helping you. My thought is that can be expanded to include grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Learn to listen to Your spirit.  Applying the Blood of Jesus and added praying for wisdom.

**The devil can't cross the Blood Line, that's why it's important to draw that around you & your household, plead the Blood. In fact plead the Blood over yourself, your spouse, your children, every morning. Meaning that you have placed yourself in the Holy of Holies where the enemy cannot go. As you do this, you put your family in a position to live each day in the sanctuary the devil can't touch- the Holy of Holies.

** Remember the root meaning of the Hebrew word -Shalom means nothing missing, nothing broken.

** Th heart of a covenant believer is fixed on Psalm 112 no matter what challenges arise in his life.

** I liked that Kellie's children would say as they were going to bed: I plead the Blood of Jesus. No weapon formed against me shall prosper."

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- Never Surrender: A Soldier Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom by LTG (Ret.) William G.Boykin

General Jerry Boykin is one of the original members of the Delta Force and has spent the majority of his career in Special Forces. His work in this area of the military placed him in many battles--some of them legendary. He was commander of the Delta Force team portrayed in the movie Black Hawk Down.

These and other dramatic experiences make Boykin's life story read like the riveting fiction of Tom Clancy. He shares how his foundation of faith--while challenged and even broken--was restored and became the lifeblood that brought him through unimaginable circumstances to a rich and inspiring life.

In the end, the general realizes his life would have gone very differently, even tragically, without his faith.

What an amazing life this man has lived thus far as the book covers.  Before the story even starts the Special Forces Creed is shared.  The Creed almost made me blink because of the awesome determination to it.  God and Country, Never surrender attitude in it !

Something that also impressed was his opening sentence about Washington, D.C. being a fickle beast.  It had such a ring of truth to it.  Especially true even now in current times as we see it played before our faces, time and again.

His story flows with intensity, friendships, faith in God, excellent world building and humor at times.  He writes it in such a way that it's easy to relate to because its written in such a human way. With all its ups and downs.  Some pictures were also included in the book too.

Towards the ending chapters we get such a personal look at how the press tried to crucify him and it went on for at least a year.  Relentless accusations from all different sources without the benefit of trying to find the real truth.  But God, also had people praying for him and he got to the point where he realized, "he never rolled over fo.  I will also add that I'm not a groupie but his speaking of God and his life with him shone through as truth in all its good ways.r anyone, never surrendered as a soldier.  He does surrender to God even deeper during this when things looked even worse.

I have to say that some years ago, LTG (Ret.) William G.Boykin spoke at the  church that I was attending.  He was such a great speaker that kept our attention and the time just seemed to fly by.  I will also add that.  I will also add that I'm not a groupie but his speaking of God and his life with him shone through as truth in all its good ways. I was glad to see that what was written came through just as strongly.

This was a good Christian mystery, thriller with interesting main characters. Trevor and Carrie both has some serious regrets, secrets that they are battling. Turns out they both have their own trust issues.  Ten years have passed since her life shattering encounter with someone she loved who betrayed her.  Someone who saved her life and has always been there for her is Isaac, who had become safe place.  He was not only the manager of their business but was like her substitute father/uncle, friend.  In other words he was her family.
Trevor won't give up until he finally get some answers to what happened to his sister. And he's good at what he does.  He does find out though that a lot of things hadn't come to light about what Jennifer was up to.  Carrie helps a lot because she knows about the country and knows people that know people.  Danger kicks up when the "villains" don't want those answers uncovered. They are willing to kill to keep them and already have.  Plenty of twists to the story that has really good world building too.
I kept in the story until the final surprise and a very satisfying ending.

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- The Deborah Anointing by Michelle McClain-Walters

The Old Testament describes Deborah as a mighty combination of judge, intercessor, prophetess, mother of Israel, and military strategist. Deborah broke outside of her culture—not out of rebellion, but in obedience to God to set her people free.

As in biblical times God is calling today’s women to a purpose greater than themselves. The Deborah Anointing shows you that although you may have been trapped in tradition and locked into captivity by cultural and gender prejudices, God desires for you to break through these barriers. Now is the time to embrace the fullness of your purpose!

Whatever your sphere of influence at work, at home, or at church—will you acc ept the challenge to be a modern-day Deborah, stand for God, and boldly lead others to Him?
5 STARS
Right off the bat, there is a good explanation of how Deborah operated in her country.  Not only does it list what we know but also lists different characteristics of her call. Most of us know that she was Intercessor but she was also a Strategic Intercessor.  We also get a list of how to activate the different parts of  that part of the Deborah Anointing but also Judge, Prophetess, Mother(maternal leadership, Deliverer/Strategist, Agitator, Worshiping Warrior.  Now Prophetess may seem strange but it means here to operate on a Heavenly level of spirit of wisdom and revelation.  Also of help is that there is right after that a section about the hindrances to the Deborah Anointing. And a really good prayer follows after that.
The whole book is full of good information, solid scripture and prayers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
My Notes- pg. 7 Awake! Awake! Deborah!
To be a Modern Day Deborah in the earth speak this declaration: Lord, I pray that You will awaken me to the call You have for  my life.  Remove any bondage of fear from my heart & mind. Let your  wisdom & courage rest upon me. Awaken me from my slumber.  Let me walk circumspectly in this hour. I loose myself from passivity & apathy. Let me be alert to Your voice. Let me be aware of Your purpose.
I thank you Lord that You are an extraordinary God and You will accomplish extraordinary things through me.  I release myself from self-imposed limitations. I break every limitation that the enemy has placed upon my life and has kept me from meeting my full potential.
No longer will I be deceived & trapped by the traditions and opinions of men. For I was created for greatness ! I was created to be God's glory carrier throughout the earth. I will arise & be radiant with the glory of the Lord. I will be a beaming lighthouse of hope for many who sit in gross darkness.
Lord, give me words of wisdom that will guide me & influence many. I will NOT remain silent ! I break every demonic conspiracy designed to keep me silent.I won't let past failures & disappointments keep me silent. I will open up my mouth wide, & God you will fill it.
God give me ideas, insights & concepts to bring deliverance to many. You have anointed me to impart to those in my sphere of influence. The words that I speak will release life to a hurting generation. I am not in this world by chance. I'm not in this decade by chance. I am a modern day Deborah! I stir up & activate the Deborah anointing through this prayer & declaration. In the name of Jesus. amen
-----
pg 114 Power to Enlarge your boundaries of Influence- Isaiah 54:1-3 used as basis for the following:
1.- Sing- the singing of a new song represents a new season. New songs in Scripture represent the breaking of an old cycle. Deborah & Barak marked a new season of peace by singing. Singing also represents changing your attitude, mind-set & environment. Singing also represents entering into a blessing by faith. For many years women have been told by society to be silent but the Lord has given women permission to sing, or in other words be vocal for Him.
2.- Enlarge-Bigness to grow large.  Thinking outside the church and denominational organizations for ministry opportunities.
3.- Stretch- extend, spread out. Opportunities are out there.
4- Lengthen- Look to the future. Let the eyes of faith look beyond the natural.
5- Strengthen- firm up what you already have.
6. Think BIG- Women  must night see themselves as little or insignificant. Dream big with God and think outside the box.
7.- Let them- we must allow God through our lives without trying to force things to come into place.
8- Don't spare- Don't hold back, darken or hinder. Don't allow the opinions of men, controversy, or fear to cause you to draw back.
9- Expand- break through resistance. Through the creativity of Holy Spirit we are being empowered & our roles are being redefined.

BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- Breaking His Code (Away From Keyboard # 1) by Patricia D. Eddy

She doesn’t trust anyone. All he wants is someone who “gets” him.

Camilla

I’d rather be elbows deep defusing a bomb than all up in anyone’s feels, but civilian life is messy—and all I’ve got since one slip almost sent me home from my last tour in a body bag. Now I debug lines of code by day. And spend my nights with West, a retired SEAL.

It’s not what you think.

We’re online gaming buddies. Geeking out and trash talking to our hearts’ content. Until he wants to meet up. I’m weak enough to say yes, though there’s something he has to understand. I guard my heart. And I trust no one.

West

Six years after leaving the teams, the cold-sweat nightmares are only getting worse. But gaming with Cam, a fellow vet with an irreverent mouth and the uncanny ability to quiet my demons is a welcome distraction from the lack of sleep and the fact that the latest fitness fads are killing my Krav Maga studio.

She claims she doesn’t do relationships, but one date with her and I’m on fire for more. When I’m forced to take on a risky rescue mission to save my dojo, she retreats back behind her keyboard—and her secrets. I’m willing to lay it all on the line to show her broken can be beautiful. But she has to show me her raw edges—and trust that my own are a perfect fit.

Breaking His Code is the first book in the Away From Keyboard series. All books in the series are complete standalones, but past characters always show up in future books.

It started out really strong. Both Cam and West were good main characters.  But about short of 50% on my Kindle it started to stumble a bit for me.   I think it had a lot to do with all the sex-texting and actual sex scenes.  Although well done it ALMOST took over the story. But I liked Cam and West so much that I just kept going. They both had their own emotional things to deal with.  And I liked how Cam's job and her relationships there entered into the mysteries of the programing problems.

So I ended up liking the book with some reservations.  However I liked the ending. And the person behind the computer problems wasn't who I was suspecting.  I always like it when the author surprises me like that.

So I also ended up wanting to know more about Royce (her boss, friend) and even Lucas another friend she worked with.  How does their stories go?

LIBBY/ BOOK REVIEW- Knockout: A Hell's Belles Novel by Sarah MacLean

With her headful of wild curls and wilder ideas and an unabashed love of experiments and explosives, society has labeled Lady Imogen Loveless peculiar…and doesn’t know she’s one of the Hell’s Belles—a group of vigilantes operating outside the notice of most of London.

Thomas Peck is not most of London. The brilliant detective fought his way off the streets and into a promising career through sheer force of will and a keen ability to see things others miss, like the fact that Imogen isn’t peculiar…she’s pandemonium. If you ask him, she requires a keeper. When her powerful family discovers her late-night activities, they couldn’t agree more…and they know just the man for the task.

Thomas wants nothing to do with guarding Imogen. He is a grown man with a proper job and no time for the lady’s incendiary chaos, no matter how lushly it is packaged. But some assignments are too explosive to pass up, and the gruff detective is soon caught up in Imogen’s world, full of her bold smiles and burning secrets…and a fiery passion that threatens to consume them both.

Imogen was worth reading the whole story.  She was a hoot, one of a kind ! She loved people with her whole heart even knowing that most don't really understand her.  She also hates bullies and injustice with her whole heart too.  She's an important part of the group of Hell's Belle's too.  The rest of the group is pretty interesting also.

Thomas is stern, uncompromising and totally mystified by Imogen.  And of all things she is impertinent with him, calling him Tommy.   He's fighting it but as more times goes on, he's also more and more intrigued by her.  He's never met anyone like her before and he's unsure what to do with her.  Yes, even though she and her group have helped him in their own way to bust some really evil people.  They got the evidence so that he could follow through and make the arrests.

The story keeps getting more and more surprises cropping up  and so do some unpredictable attacks as well. The biggest surprise comes towards the end.

I liked how the story ended and also gave a quick glance into the story about Duchess and the very  big secret she has been hiding.  Sounds like another good story.

BOOK REVIEW- Above 'N' Beyond by Tee O'Fallon

Getting locked up had been easy. But for K-9 Sergeant Jamie Pataglio, going undercover at a maximum-security prison—and infiltrating the Mancusco crime family—was the hard part. Now, six months later, Jamie’s been accepted as one of the mob’s own, and he’s walking out of the gates as a free man…and stepping into the criminal underworld. There’s only one small, gorgeous problem: Bella Bianco.

The Italian bistro used to be Bella’s pride and joy. Now it’s become a nightmare, where her violent family uses her restaurant as its criminal home base.
Guilty by association. She needs to find a way out, and fast. The last thing Bella needs is an attraction to their newest “associate”—even if every moment alone with him leaves her breathless. It’s almost enough to make her reconsider her “no mobsters” policy…

They can’t trust each other. But if either of them ever wants to break free of their circumstances, they don’t have a choice. They’ll have to take down her family. And if anyone finds out they’re working together…
they’re both dead.

This story hits all the right notes.  Beginning with the 3 main characters.  Why do I say 3 ?  Because I see Jamie aka Jimmy has such a great best friend, Jax who is his K-9 partner.   Bella is between a rock and a hard place when it comes to her aunt (The Godmother) and the restaurant that they co-own.  Jamie is undercover for a different reason but it still is being caught between a rock and a hard place too ! And one of those "rocks" is a particular F.B.I. Jenkins who is nasty piece of work.  At times I wondered how he got and kept his position because he was often as dumb as a box of rocks. The things that he tried to require Jamie to do while undercover was just stupid. I was hoping he would be reprimanded for his recklessness.  Good thing Jamie was smarter than him, that paid off time after time.

This was an emotional story, with plenty of tense action as well as some tender moments too.  Made me wonder how in the world this was going to end in a good way.  Also how in the world would there even be a chance for Jamie and Bella to have a future.

It has some great confrontations and a sweet ending.

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- Lineage-Line and Legacy: The Power to Transform a Generation by Bobby Conner

Within these pages you will discover numerous fresh new insights to assist you in your journey. You will be guided and directed how to release God’s Divine spoken blessing over yourself as well as your descendants. You will discover the power to break family curses. Each one of us has been given a priceless gift—the power to influence lives.

For a number of years, the Lord has been urging me regarding writing this book. He has emphasized the significance and consequences of lineage-line and legacy. A deeper understanding of these two aspects of your life will change your entire family line. The potential to shape the generations to come rests upon our shoulders; we have the power to transform lives—our own and those of our descendants.

Within the pages of this book you will be guided and instructed how to release a blessing upon your lineage not just for now, but for years to come. Also you will gain valuable guidelines for breaking lineage-line curses.

It is a proven fact our lives can be the building blocks for overwhelming success or the stumbling stones for coming generations. Take heart, even if you have failed in the past to present a positive encouraging example, it is never too late. Our God can restore and bring about restoration. No situation is too hard for Him:

Is anything too hard for the Lord?
Genesis 18:14

In the 1600s, the poet John Donne wrote the famous phrase, “No man is an island.” It is still true today. Simply stated, this means that our actions have an effect upon others. This influence can be for good or for bad, for help or for heartache.

Legacy deals with what you leave behind. Lineage-line speaks of who you leave behind. Both are connected to the other. Legacy exposes lifestyle and what type of reputation you pass down. Your lineage is composed of your descendants.

The importance of legacy is revealed in the fact that it is mentioned over two hundred times in Scripture.  Some synonyms for legacy are; inheritance, bequest, heritage, gift and birthright. It's encouraging to know that it's never too late to  destroy family curses and godly blessings upon our ancestral lines. God desires to restore and heal, that's why it's never too late. Something that caught my eye was the statement that "you have friends in high places" (John 15:15)  What a great way to look at it.  And this book has plenty of scripture to back up what is being said.
Shared are some personal experiences that are quite enlightening.  One truth that hit him early was about living for the benefit of coming generations.  He also dives into the importance of our walking in and having our families walking in The Blessing.  There is also corrections shown in order to get back in line with God if you have erred.
This book covers many good areas.  Good for all Christians to look at that is.

This was a powerful little book.
Of course there were people who didn't like him rocking the boat as he obeyed the Lord.  They were critical and afraid, even speaking he was in error.  But I liked what the Lord had to say to Roberts about that.  The Lord kept saying to him. "You just go ahead and invade.  Go ahead and be a force that cannot be stopped.  Do what God tells you to do, and let everyone else be responsible for their reactions and responses. Don't have any sleepless nights about what God tells you to do. Let those who don't like you or what you are doing have the sleepless nights." A good idea I think for us when we KNOW that we are obeying God. Not saying not to be open to correction but that sometimes that correction is in error.
The invading army of God is to rule areas, like money of your city.  God wants you to rule the political system of your city.  He wants you to rule in every area.  That probably does sound radical to some.  However, doesn't the Bible also tell us to occupy until He comes back?
He also touches on Spiritual Violence, and being a friend of God, along with some personal experiences.
His final words are pure truth.  That the devil is not going to give back the earth without a fight.  We are going to have to clear out the territory, possess it and rebuild it.

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- Ice Cold Saint (Ice Breaker Cold Case Romance# 3) by Cynthia Eden

I’m here to take you down.” – Saint

“You said that wrong. What you meant was that you’re here to fall in love with me.” - Alice

Saint is in the family business…the business of hunting killers and closing unsolved cases. He knows his reputation—most people think he
is a monster. Dangerous, cold, deadly…and with no conscience. But it takes a guy like him to get the job done. And his latest job? Well, that job has him tracking down a suspected Black Widow…the beautiful and ever-so-seductive Alice Shephard. A woman who is linked to the disappearance of three men.

Beauty can be the coldest lie of all.

Whispers and scandal follow her every step, but Alice doesn’t seem to care. Is she responsible for the disappearances—and possible deaths—of three ex-lovers? Saint will find out. He’s stepping into her web, and if she’s guilty, he’ll personally lock her away, just as he has done on case after case before. Emotions never get in his way.

Wanting her isn’t a surprise. Needing her is.

Alice seems immune to his charm. Fair enough, mostly because Saint isn’t known for charm. But he is hell on wheels when it comes to seduction, and the attraction between him and Alice is electric. When he touches her, need rocks through him, a desire so fierce that it threatens to consume them both.
a But Saint can want her and still lock her away. No problem. Or…

Problem. What if she’s not guilty?

When Alice saves his life, Saint realizes there is more to her than meets the eye. Maybe she’s using him, maybe everything is a game to her, or maybe…maybe Alice is the real victim in the story and not the villain. Unlikely, but…what if? What if all along someone else was attacking from the dark? What if someone else is determined to claim Alice, to eliminate all other men from her life?

And what if Saint might just wind up losing the one person he needs above all others?

They call him Saint, but everyone knows he’s a monster…and he’s ready to let his dark side out to hunt.

Author’s Note: As part of the Ice Breakers, Saint is intent on solving cold cases. But his latest case heats up—or rather, goes molten—the instant he meets Alice. She’s supposed to be a villain. Fair enough, he’s not exactly hero material. Can two villains fall in love? Time to find out. These two don’t play nicely, they love hard and dirty, and they will take on the world for each other.

I liked this story but was surprised that it didn't turn out to be my new favorite.

Both Saint and Alice turned out to be good, fierce main characters.  One's that had quite a bit of depth.  They also had quite the instant strong attraction although they wish they didn't. Like they later said, they each saw the darkness in each other and weren't afraid of it.  There's also a whole lot of secrets, especially on Alice's end.  But as the story goes on you realize there are a whole bunch of secrets that even Alice doesn't know. If you want emotions  displayed in your story, that happens too.  With quite a large amount of sexual tension and bedroom scenes too.

Can Alice even trust friends, one of them being Logan Becker ? What's going on with him?

There are plenty of people who are positive that Alice is a Black Widow, and they are hungry to nail her.  So was Saint, until things didn't seem to add up. The action keeps getting more and more dangerous until things come to a stunning conclusion.

Alignment is for the high places in God.  It guarantees that we can stay in the rarefied atmosphere of abundance. To the point of our expectation of God is so strong...  Abundance makes us fully mature in childlike exclamations of glory. The glory of alignment is that we can understand all that God is to us (Ephesians 3:16-20) Alignment is atmospheric.   The enemy is the prince of the power of the air  (Ephesians 2:2); he lives in the atmosphere. Spiritual warriors are perceptive.  When they encounter a wrong atmosphere something rises up within them and they have to check it out. Those are some pretty powerful statements.

Spiritual warriors have learned to resist the enemy and overcome the circumstances facing them.  They know how to release Heaven by speaking peace and blessing over everything and everyone around them.

Partnering with Holy Spirit is another attribute of alignment. It is a partnership that is relentless against the enemy!

Each battle is different and we are learning how to fight God’s way.

When God shows up in our life, He tells us who we are becoming. Good point. There is this and so much more to the book.

The book leaves room at the end of each chapter to answer several Questions about: Assignment, Commission and Personal Notes. Making it an interactive book.  You've got homework !

BOOK REVIEW- Let Me Love You by [Brittney Sahin]

General Fiction (Adult) | Romance

Description

Love is a risk for a woman in danger and a mercenary sworn to protect in a blistering novel of vengeance and redemption by Wall Street Journal bestselling author Brittney Sahin.

Six years ago, Maria Romano got her birthday wish—a kiss from Enzo Costa. A man she could never take her eyes off, but who seemed as haunted as her favorite book boyfriends and strictly off-limits. Just one unforgettable moment in the dark and then he was gone.

Now Maria is a divorced single mom, moving on and open to romance again. Fatefully, it’s with the new head chef at her sister’s restaurant: Enzo. A gentler man than the one she remembers, yet fire still burns. And a warning still lingers: don’t get too close.

Enzo is embarking on a new life, too. And falling in love with Maria shouldn’t happen. He has far too much blood on his hands, and he carries his damaged past like a shadow. But he can’t ignore the impulses drawing them back together.

When his secrets plunge Maria into danger, Enzo must become the man he once was to keep everyone safe. Will he go off the deep end and never find his way back? Or will Maria be enough to save his soul?

3.5 STARS

Okay, the opening prologue with Maria was big time awkward.  I almost cringed for her.  But she also found some sass as she provoked Enzo.  Now that I liked.

Having both Maria and Enzo alternately sharing their points of view was so enjoyable. I'm glad it was done that way.  And the title fit, Yay!  I love when that becomes clear. And it does fairly early in the story and comes up later too.  I liked how Enzo thought of Maria as a little fireball. Maria's daughter, Chiara came through as a cutie like she was supposed to. And she does have a part to play in the story.

This story had so much potential. But the downside for me was that all the sexual innuendo, language and actual scenes started to overwhelm the actual story.  That is something that I don't enjoy.  So I struggled on how to rate this book.  I will be giving it 3.5 Stars on Amazon because the actual story was good.  The emotions, the twists, the unexpected surprises, the closeness of families and even the struggle between Enzo and Maria's attraction was well written.  As was the final chapter.

Good, sound Biblical basis for healing.  It should be in everyone's basic arsenal of what God's will is for us concerning this. Stating scripture that backs that up and also clears it up even more with Psalm 103: 3.  That scripture starts out about Blessing the Lord not forgetting all His benefits and leads into verse 3Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases (KJV)

Jesus paid the HIGHEST price for us to SIMPLY believe, stand on it and then receive.  Sounds easy right?  Should be but religious mindsets and the enemy will try to talk you out of it so you have to fight to not let it get stolen from you.

I'm in total agreement when it comes to NOT accepting what the world says happens when you get older.  You get this or can't do that. No, that's not what God says.  We need to REFUSE the world's way.  On a personal note: I've been rooting that old world training out of myself and remembered what God has to say about getting older.   Psalm 92:12-15 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition says it best:

12 The [uncompromisingly] righteous shall flourish like the palm tree [be long-lived, stately, upright, useful, and fruitful]; they shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic, stable, durable, and incorruptible].

13 Planted in the house of the Lord, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 [Growing in grace] they shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be full of sap [of spiritual vitality] and [rich in the] verdure [of trust, love, and contentment].

15 [They are living memorials] to show that the Lord is upright and faithful to His promises; He is my Rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
I liked that the author reminded us how faith comes.  According to Romans 10:17 faith comes from hearing the word of God ! Hearing God's word produces faith.
Keep your eyes on Jesus. My final words on this book is that..It's a good book for those who aren't sure whether or not healing has passed away and for those who believe but we all need reminders.

+BOUGHT/ BOOK REVIEW- Smashing Deception in The House of God by Shane W Roessiger | Jul 4, 2013

"In this coming season, I will reveal those who are using my church for their own gain, those who have used my words to entice my sheep, who have let go of what I have given them for their own gain. For I have given time for repentance and found none. I am cleaning house. Some will be publicly exposed. Some ministries will come to not silently. Losing what they hold so precious, they will repent. I am doing this because I love them. They will not perish into everlasting fire, away from me.” A prophetic word extracted from Smashing Deception in the House of God

A good point stood out by Mary  Merth to the author before getting in the book. "..Don't ever apologize when God gives you  a word, just be obedient.   A prophet is never loved by all since he is the watchman on the wall, sometimes blowing judgement, truth or encouragement.  Be blessed"

I do have to say that those words opened my eyes a bit, because I never looked at as a watchman can give encouragement.  But now I recognize it.

I's all about the heart is shown from several different angles even before getting to that later chapter.  Also some interesting things about God preparing a bride, not a harlot.  Plenty of insights and scripture showing how the church, it's people and some of its leaders have erred. "Beware of the Leaven-Part1" points out some wisdom when it comes to being beware of those of who act in certain ways.  Like, Speak great swelling words of exaggeration, not bringing the whole counsel of God. Always saying the name of God but don't mention the name of Jesus Christ. Often making their entire sermon  a story without any scripture in it.  Finally, are so concerned with titles and honoring men and operate by bringing fear or making you fearful.  All good points.

There were a couple of things that I wasn't in total agreement with.  But for the most part he was point on with what is going on even now. He definitely was NOT afraid to supply a lot of  scripture to his book either.

BOOK REVIEW- The Head That Wears the Crown A Novel by Mariah Stewart

General Fiction (Adult) | Romance

Description

A fortysomething woman’s ordinary life takes a royal detour in an engaging novel about embracing a family legacy and stepping up when it matters most by New York Times bestselling author Mariah Stewart.

Annaliese—Annie—Gilberti is a divorced South Philadelphia mother of two with a nine-to-five job when a shocking discovery turns another average day upside down: her late grandmother was the exiled ruler of a small European country, and Annie is next in line to wear the crown and restore the monarchy. The would-be grand duchess of the Grand Duchy of Saint Gilbert has vacation time coming, enough to take a quick trip to check it out.

It’s easy to fall in love with Saint Gilbert’s villagers; its mysteries (why does everyone look decades younger than they claim to be?); her family’s ancestral home, Castle Blanc (so many hidden rooms and passages!); and maybe—just a little—with the dashing Maximilien Belleme, the captain of the castle guard. Never one to walk away from a challenge, Annie steps up, determined to be worthy of the crown that’s been offered. As she, her sisters, and her children work to bring Saint Gilbert into the modern age, Annie discovers a legacy of courageous women and that no threat is too great to deny the grand duchess’s right to the throne.

4 STARS

Its like a fairy tale with some real life tossed in.  I'd call it a Modern Americanized  Fairy Tale. I liked that it was different, when it came to Annie not being the dewy eyed, innocent of the world that we often see. This lady has lived and survived some tough stuff and was raising teenagers.  She was also incredibly smart when it came to problem solving. She was also funny at times, especially in the way she thought about some things.

It has an exquisite detailed world building. Felt like a sweet travel log at times plus some really good main characters were in it too.  Not only Annie but also her children, Ralphie and Jules add their own color to the story. So do Annie's skilled, independent sisters, Ceil and Roe. Both were born to rule in their own way, in their areas of expertise.

Once in her homeland, Annie finds a lot of great support and help from so many people.  Max was one of the men who was captain of the guard and helped so much both in Philadelphia and in Saint Gilbert. Turns out he is in charge of her protection and an important member of the Duke's Council.  Max's mother, Claudette also proved to be quite the good ally.  The Duke's Counsel proved to be an unusual mix of people with some having unknown motives.  Annie will have to wade her way through that.
While the story is sweet, it is also emotional and has plenty of challenges for Annie, her brilliant solutions to keeping her country alive and solutions for her family and some friends.  Out of the blue, a dangerous threat must be exposed and taken care of.   Oh, in case you are wondering there is also a low key romance included too.
Because of the fairy tale element to this story, you expect a fairy tale ending and you get it.

BOOK REVIEW- New Leash on Life (Gone to the Dogs # 6)by Kathleen Y'Barbo

Christian | Mystery & Thrillers | Romance
How Is a Missing Military Working Dog Related to Two Local Fires?

Snuggle with your trusty hound and settle into a small-town mystery in book 6 of the Gone to the Dogs series.

Air Force veteran Dr. Lane Bishop and Nora Hernandez’s romance has cooled. He is busy working as a researcher at the vet school, and she’s busy with her restaurant and opening an antique shop. What Lane hasn’t told her is his PTSD, which manifests mostly with nightmares, makes him believe he’s damaged goods. But that is about to change when he meets a stray pup that acts a lot like a military working dog. When a tornado hits Brenham, there is damage in the downtown area and a fire is ignited in Nora’s new store. A Belgian Malinois dog is seen at the fire and later Lane sees him at a wedding venue where an explosion occurs. Not long after, a second explosion rocks Brenham and sends Nora and Lane on a hunt for the person responsible. Will the pair find the guilty party before more damage is done to the city’s landmarks? And will Lane find the words to tell Nora how much he loves her before it’s too late?

This is a feel good kind of story...sort of.  It IS emotional but there is so much more to it too.  Mysteries abound and not just about the Belgian Malinois dog either.
There is the mystery that surrounds Lane and his inability to propose to Nora.  Why can't he just tell her the truth? He loves her but he sure doesn't spend much time with her.  And she's getting tired of being put on the back burner with promise after promise being broken.  Even his father misses him.  I have to say although Lane is brilliant, he was also clueless when it came women.
I liked that we got to see dual P.O.V.'s.  Maybe I should say that there are three main characters because the military dog was front and center too.
Nora was quite the trooper when it comes to Lane and she was also brilliant when it came to building her businesses.  Her family and the community that surrounds her also adores and supports her. The people from that town added so much when it came to adding depth to the story.
There is enough action, dangers, some betrayals and surprises to keep the story going really well alongside the romance.  It has a good ending as well.
