Book Review- Baccara ( A Windsor Short Story -Windsor Series)by Tamsen Schultz

 Book Cover

Six months ago, Dr. Lila Rose returned to her home town of New Orleans. Five days ago, she started finding roses tucked against the windshield of her car. As an ER doctor and daughter of two FBI agents, Lila has a finely tuned intuition and she knows the blooms aren’t harmless—but in this city, she’d be laughed out of the police station for filing a complaint.

When FBI agent Jake Doucette hears through the grapevine about Lila’s roses, he knows exactly what they mean. And even worse, he knows just what kind of danger Lila—a woman he’s known since she was toddling around her parents’ yard—is in.

Because twenty-one years ago, the Baccara Killer struck New Orleans. And now it looks like he’s back.

4.5 STARS

This is the second short story that I have read by this author and it didn't disappoint.  It was a "full" story maybe more than you would usually expect.
Good main characters is what Lila and Jake are.  They have depth and they have a history.  But the last ten years was one of avoidance..because of misunderstandings.  The reason why was well written too.  But the attraction is definitely still there.
The villain of the piece is well thought out and as creepy as you would expect in a story like this.  But no so obvious that you could pick said villain in a crowd.  Which really kept the story good and the tension high.
It also came with a good ending.
