** Chase Wilde Comes Home (A Wyoming Wilde Novel ) by Jennifer Ryan

General Fiction (Adult), Romance
Description-New York Times bestselling author Jennifer Ryan begins a brand-new series with a western set romance between a former soldier and the mother of his child. Perfect for fans of Diana Palmer, Linda Lael Miller, and BJ Daniels.

They’re tough, tender, and sometimes tormented; they’re the Wildes of Wyoming, three brothers whose family ties are as strong as their wills.

Chase Wilde never expected to fall in love, especially with Shelby Payne. Years before, one passionate night had drawn these two lost souls together. Then Chase left on deployment with the Army, while Shelby raised their baby alone. Now he’s back, a wounded warrior determined to turn his life around. Shelby knows what it’s like to lose everything, including her own family. So she offers him a bargain: if he can prove himself to be the man he says he is, she will let him into their daughter’s life...and maybe even into hers.

Chase knows it will take a lot to prove to Shelby that there’s more between them than the single night they spent together. She’s everything he’s ever wanted, including the voice of reason he needs to reconcile his past and be the man he wants to be for them both. But just as their lives come together, she’s torn away from him by a dangerous person from her past, and saving her means saving himself . . . because he can’t live without her.

This was an intense story with such realistic highs and lows in Chase Wilde's life. And the pain and rejections that had held Shelby back for so many years was really emotional too.  But she was so steady and understanding when it came to dealing with Chase and his issues. She loved their daughter and was such a great mom.  She also had the strength to put her foot down when she needed to as well.

I enjoyed the whole story and how their overcame everything to become a solid family.  And they do have to overcome a very dangerous man who threatens that very family that they are forming.  It came to an edge of the seat ending and a H.E.A ending Wilde Style.

Book Review- Summer Nights with a Cowboy (A Kittredge Ranch Novel) by Caitlin Crews

 He doesn’t believe in love…

Traveling nurse Janie Atwood has come to Cold River to uncover old family secrets and maybe, if she’s lucky, find a new home. That the gorgeous, glowering sheriff next door thinks her caring for his elderly neighbor is a nefarious scheme is a bonus. Having never been anything but a good girl, Janie finds Zack Kittredge’s simmering suspicion an excellent reason to try being a little dangerous instead…

She doesn’t believe in squandering it…

Sheriff Zack Kittredge is okay with being… intense. He takes his loner status as seriously as he takes his responsibilities to protect Cold River. And he thinks cheerful Janie might be a threat to the town. But the more he gets to know her, the more he faces the truth—she’s brighter than sunshine and he’s like a moth to her flame. When Janie suggests he could use a few charm school lessons, he surprises them both by accepting. He doesn’t need help. But it’s clear he might need her…

Because the only thing hotter than the summer sun in the Rockies is the forbidden passion that burns between them…

Funny. And Janie and her nervous talking?  Hilarious.  Her clumsy accidents while embarrassing  to her were smile worthy for me.

Zack was a VERY intense, private and kind of sternly forbidding man especially when he first meets clumsy Janie.  But it was also so much fun to see them struggle with each other before the sexual heat took over.   I did get a kick out of the title that he affectionately gave  Janie, of "little outlaw."  Janie loved it because she was so over being in the friend zone with men or simply overlooked.

There's plenty of emotions in the story besides just the Janie and Zack deal.  And I fell totally in love with that "character", Damaris Gardiner.  Janie was supposed to be her nurse but watching their relationship turn into friendship was so good.

I liked how the story finished as so many people  working out their kinks in relationships.  My final word on this story is that it was also "charming."

This was a good story with interesting main characters.  To start with Helena was something else, in  a good way.  Well, not only is she beautiful and kind but she is also a bit goofy and accident prone.  She proves that with her first meeting with Rank  Utterly humiliating.   But it did make me smile.  I smiled about her conversations with her best friend too.

Rank was a good guy who was skilled at his job and used to being in charge.  Well, that all went upside down after his first meeting with Helena.

His fellow team members add so  much to the story as do some of the women in the group.  The world building I thought was spot on.

I enjoyed the whole story even if I thought there was quite a bit of sex scenes between Rank, and Helena.  Thankfully there was also a tender romance too.

The ending was good with everything being wrapped up.

**Book Review- The Marquess Makes His Move (Clandestine Affairs #3)by Diana Quincy

This story was original, different, intriguing.  Both Brandon and Rose made the story interesting.

Brandon had a kind heart but found being a servant enlightening.  It really opened his eyes to what they went through.  It also made him more sensitive to making sure his servants really were being treated well.  I enjoyed seeing that happening.

That was good because at one point I wasn't really sure if I was going to like this book or not.  Until, more of Brandon's family and culture showed up.  And then there was also some BIG surprises started showing up. Rose's husband Roger was totally unlikable and became ever more-so.   Yes, I was hooked and just needed to see how everything ended up.

Book Review- Loving Lovina (The Infamous Amish#3) by Patricia Johns

Romance

When the peaceful Amish community of Bountiful, Pennsylvania, is rocked by scandal, the three Yoder siblings must each find their path to love, family, and forgiveness . . .

Waking in the hospital after a car accident, Lovina Yoder doesn’t remember the Amish family who claim her as their own—or the man who says he’s her fiancé. Life in the Amish community seems full of joy, faith, and warmth. And yet, Lovina senses there is something more in her past, just beyond her grasp . . .

Gott has answered Johannes’ prayer to bring Lovina back—but not quite as he hoped. A year ago, she ran away to the Englisher world, unable to face the community after her daet’s misdeeds. Her family hopes that Lovina can rediscover her Amish heart before those painful recollections return. Johannes loves her as deeply as ever, but if she walked away once, will she leave again, taking his dream of home and family with her? Or will the new memories they are making together, day by day, convince her that this Bountiful future is Gott’s plan for them both?

3.5 STARS

For me this book is really kind of hard to rate.  I was left with mixed feelings about it. There were parts of it that I liked and other things that I didn't enjoy quite so much. I will say that it was a different kind of Amish story from what I have read before.  Probably because some of the things that they were dealing with as an Amish community.

One problem for me was although the world building was terrific, the story was often so slow.  Some of that had to do with the same issues and feelings been rehashed over and over. The emotions do come through really well but I just felt some of the going over of them could have been a bit less.

As Lovina is trying to regain her memory her sister Elizabeth and her sister-in-law hovering over her was almost painful to watch.  Elizabeth especially was the worst but then again they were so afraid of losing her again I understand why it was happening.

Daniel, what can I say?  Loved that kid and his determination to follow his unusual path.  His unusual solution actually does end up sparking some creative ideas for others.

There is a sweet ending to the story which once again I did like.  So hopefully you can see why I had trouble rating this book.

** Book Review- Pine Creek Marriage (Pine Creek #2) by Amity Hope

Religion & Spirituality, Romance

Each book in the Pine Creek series is STANDALONE

Description

Love may blossom where it’s least expected in the delightful and heartwarming Pine Creek series from Amity Hope.

Widow Amelia Baumann has sworn to never love again. She’s content to live peacefully in Pine Creek at her friend Mary’s warm, comfortable farmhouse. But then Samuel Kurtz shows up and becomes Mary’s permanent guest, making it hard to keep her feelings in check. Especially after Samuel's six-year-old niece, Ruthie, whom he's been raising as his own daughter, completely steals her heart.

When the bishops from another district threaten to send Ruthie to live with her distant aunt, so that she'll have two parents raising her instead of just Samuel, he hatches a plan.

Amelia reluctantly agrees to a marriage of convenience with Samuel–only because she loves Ruthie and can't bear to see her torn from the only father she's ever known. Not because Samuel’s kind green eyes and charming laugh draw her in. And as long as she and Samuel are in agreement that they will simply remain friends...what could possibly go wrong?

4.5 STARS

This book opens with Amelia and Samuel in an interesting situation.  One that is filled with suspicion, mistrust and some disapproval.  What a great way to start off on the wrong foot!  It is the first of many misunderstandings.  Of course they do reach a peaceful, semi cordial state, eventually.

This was an emotional story with most of the upheaval being felt by Amelia.  The emotional connection between Amelia and Ruthie was so sweet to watch.  And Ruthie was totally adorable and I can see why she steals everyone's heart.

Samuel is such a caring man with a kind heart.  I liked that he wasn't the "typical" Amish man that I often read about.  And the connection between him and his "daughter" is off the charts beautiful.

Mary (Samuel's aunt) and Naomi (Amelia's mother) add plenty to the story too.

If you haven't already guessed it I really enjoyed this story a lot.  It was also a welcome read because the often harsh portrayal of some in an Amish community was mainly missing here.  The most harshness comes from Ruthie's aunt who goes all out to take Ruthie from her "dad".

The story has a good ending with an equally good Epilogue.

This was a sweet, emotional good story with  interesting main characters.  Each one of the with such an often painful past. Even though Kat and Bowie's histories were different, they still kept my interest. Kat had grown up with an overprotective mother, who was like a hovercraft over her even now.  Bowie had the direct opposite with a mother, who barely registered as one.  Now Bowie was in over his head with a half-brother Milo who was so much younger and carrying a bushel load of issues.

Kat's heart is torn between her love for Milo and her desperation to adopt and rescue Gabi.

All in all a good story, a great community and a clean romance.

Outstanding, this book was intense and outstanding.  It had incredible depth not only in the  main characters but also in the twist and turns, the lies in the story.
Chloe and Damien had such a rich, long standing history and their future was wrought with so many dangers.  Most of them aimed at Chloe.
James who was the head man of the family held so many secrets but he loved Chloe fiercely and tried to protect her the best that he could.  She made her feel safe and protected almost like the father that she never really had.  Her father being the man of her nightmares.
Damien and his brothers also had such depth to them too.  And they play their parts well in this story.
This story kept me on my toes because I never knew what was going to happen next.  Well except that Chloe and Damien would be sexually active together.  Those scenes were well written as well and I loved the two of them together.
Things come to a stunning conclusion with yet more secrets unveiled.
I was happy with the end result.

I have mixed feelings about this story.  Although I like some of it, and it had some sweet moments, I was hoping for more.   I did like both of the main characters and Cassie's grandmother.  It often felt though at times that it just needed more depth to the story. It also had times that were also somewhat predictable.  But there are at least 3 surprises waiting at the end of the book.  And a H.E.A. too.

This book was one that I was HOPING would be good.  And at first it seemed almost like a kind of sweet story.  UNTIL..everything exploded and it was crazy good.  The action was almost non-stop and I liked the crazy way they ended up being married. I never saw it happening that way.  What a good story this turned out to be.

Every time that it looked like Tyson and Jayde could stop running, something unpredictable happened.
I really liked the story of "The Rings", and how it played out in the book.  The romance between the two main characters keeps things hopping too.  It was so sweet how Tyson called her his rose and he was so tender with her too.

What a thankless family Jayde has been subjected to all her life.  They treat her like a servant.  Oh, wait not even like a servant because they get treated better.

I liked how it ended with a surprise twist of information at the end.

I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily providing an honest review.

I liked that this book had a small list of the characters at the start of the book.

All really did play the biggest part to the story.  A very well written, intense good story. The story starts out with a band and keeps a fast, unpredictable pace.  The people had depth along with the emotions from both the present and Annalise and Evan's past.

Hendrick Maynard proved to be another really good cast member who I found interesting.  I would like to read "his" story.

I fell in love with Sadie one of the girls from the school.  I would have liked to read more about her life AFTER the school trauma.  Like something extra good, she sure deserved it.

Major twist happens with the outing of another person behind the scenes helping the villains.  Never saw that coming, I was suspecting someone else and I wasn't even close.  I like being surprised.

I think this is the first time I have read anything by this author, but it won't be my last.

I love me a good Shalvis story.  Please forgive my English but that's just how I feel about this book.  It didn't disappoint. This book showed all the issues that people were dealing with but was also filled with humor too.  I liked the snappy conversations and I liked how they were worded.  I often found myself giggling or laughing out loud because of them.

What a fun first meeting between Katie and Cameron.  Loved the nickname Cam gave her of Goldilocks.  I also loved how Katie's glasses always fogged up when she was around Hot Cameron.  Heck, I liked the fact that the heroine of the piece actually wore glasses.  And in-between the humor they sure did finally heat up the sheets.  Katie also was a bit like a Calamity Jane with some of the stuff she found herself in.

Another person that was a unique but fierce person in the story was Annie.   She was the young aunt who loved all her "boys".  But they also were slightly afraid of her when she was full out the "little general." While trying to keep her family together she has her own issues.

Cam's brother Stone  made me smile when he said that their small community should be called, "Mayberry with an Attitude."  That sure fit.

The way the story ended made me happy.

Man, what a rotten guy Jenna's soon to be ex-husband Aaron was.  We learn pretty early on the ways that he constantly undermined her confidence.   She doesn't even understand that she has suffered abuse.  It's verbal abuse but still it's abuse.

Violet Green was a godsend. She was like a complete opposite of Jenna, but in all the best ways.  Well, we learn that she has also had a not so glowing past but darn that girl pulled me into caring.

Jenna's adoptive mother Beth Stevens was awesome.  They had such a great relationship.  Marshall is her adoptive father who is always loving and supportive too.  It seems like the story didn't delve too deeply into the fathers in this story but what did show was well done.

The story is really emotional just as you would expect when dealing with Jenna was. It also had a good supporting cast of some surprise people.

I really liked Jenna but a few times I wish she would tell the wonderful Serenity to back the heck off a bit. And Serenity although kooky also had some interesting ways that drew people in.  Yes, she was Jenna's biological mother but she was still basically a stranger.  I had a suspicion about why Serenity was pushing but it all came out in the end.

It has an emotional ending and has a Discussion Questions section afterwards.

This book as you can see is the third one in a series.   But don't let that keep you from reading this book.  It had a good foundation and was a good read as a stand alone.

It had great world building and January and Lincoln had great depth and emotion to them.  The intensity of the story does show up big time as does the intensity between the main characters. What a history they have had. And so much more to work out now.

The only bit of downside I saw was the slight overuse of the phrase where a person either "notched" their chin up or down.   But then again maybe that is just me.

This story will definitely keep you on your toes until the very end.  So as this story comes to it's conclusion, it also is the beginning of more. But I'm glad it wasn't a cliffhanger.  It's a series remember?

This is the second short story that I have read by this author and it didn't disappoint.  It was a "full" story maybe more than you would usually expect.
Good main characters is what Lila and Jake are.  They have depth and they have a history.  But the last ten years was one of avoidance..because of misunderstandings.  The reason why was well written too.  But the attraction is definitely still there.
The villain of the piece is well thought out and as creepy as you would expect in a story like this.  But no so obvious that you could pick said villain in a crowd.  Which really kept the story good and the tension high.
It also came with a good ending.

Book Review- Seducing the Bride's Uncle (Love Unexpected #5) by Lisa Freed

Can a determined young woman convince an older man that she wants him not what he can buy her?

JENNIFER

After a breakup, the last thing I want to do is go to my brother’s wedding by myself and be surrounded by happy couples in love. Yet when a handsome older man sweeps me off my feet, I find myself melting into his embrace. Except he’s the bride’s uncle and insanely wealthy. When a misunderstanding has him pulling away, I need to convince him it’s his heart I’m after not his bank account.

THEODORE

Another wedding, another forced appearance, and the usual set-up with someone I’m not interested in. I’m no stranger to relationships and am tired of women pursuing me simply for my money. It’s bad enough my family uses me like their own personal piggy bank. Is it too much to hope after spending the evening with a charming young woman it’s not dollar signs in her eyes when she looks at me but something more?

Seducing the Bride’s Uncle is a short, sweet and steamy story featuring a determined heroine and the older man who wins her heart. It’s a standalone with no cliffhangers and a very satisfying HEA!

I'm having a hard time giving a rating on this book.  There were part that I liked and then some parts not as much.

There was some sweetness that I liked and the emotions came across pretty well. Theo and Jennifer (Jen) have insecurities that show up without being mushy. There is also a ton of the horizontal mambo.  Well written but maybe a touch too much for me.

I liked how the story ended with the promised H.E.A.  The Epilogue was a bonus that I always appreciate.

Book Review- MONTANA DANGER by Josie Jade & Janie Crouch

Some mistakes haunt you forever.

Harlan Young knows that from personal experience.  Walking away from Grace Townsend, even with the best intentions and no other choice, still haunts him to this day.

So when he had the chance to return to Montana, and be part of something as special as the Resting Warrior Ranch, he took it. Here he can help train service and emotional support animals for former soldiers with PTSD.

And maybe, just maybe, convince Grace to give him a second chance.

He never expected that second chance to be in the form of a fake marriage in order to save the land she loves so much. But he’ll do it, as well as help fight the danger closing in on her. She thinks she’s alone, but she’s wrong.

She knew him as a boy, but now he's a man. And real men don’t run.

The tension between the two main characters was really well drawn.  Grace had plenty of reasons for her antagonism towards Harlan. And I have to give Harlan credit for just taking it from her.  Of course, there is so much more to that part of the story. I liked being able to see what each of them were feeling while getting their points of view.

Wow, Grace's neighbor, Wayne Gleason is one nasty piece of work.  Too bad he is also so clever in his underhanded ways.  So many things that he does Grace and Harlan just know he's behind it but they just can't seem to get the goods on him.

I liked that as time went on Harlan really showed such a tenderness towards Grace.  As much as she would allow at least.

There are several out of the box surprises that make the story even more interesting. I liked that I didn't see them coming and that it starts out good and just keeps getting better.  Bringing everything to a dramatic ending along with a well fought for H.E.A.

Book Review- Chimera: A Windsor Short Story (Windsor Series) Kindle Edition by Tamsen Schultz

Artist Alexandra Battista thinks a six month apprenticeship in Venice is the perfect escape from her overbearing family who all seem more upset over her recent break-up than she is. Two months into it, she’s finding it’s everything she hoped for and more. Until the night she hears her mentor being murdered.

Sent by her family to check on Alex’s well-being, Dan “Fawkes” Fowler is nearly certain she won’t welcome his interference—not after the steamy one night they spent together or the morning after when he woke to an empty bed. But when he finds her running down a darkened street, fleeing from a murderer, he knows there’s no other place he wants to be other than by her side to protect—and maybe even love—her.

I was surprised at how much I really liked this story.  Also surprised myself by wanting to give a short story 5 stars but there it is.

It had so much more depth to it than some stories can accomplish.  Both of the main characters drew me in pretty quickly.  I quickly cared about them.  Their vulnerabilities did show through.  They also gave in to the sexual heat that they had going on between them.

It also had some depth when it came to the "who" they suspected the murderer is and the "how" to prove it.

It comes to a dramatic ending and with hope for the future of Alex and "Fawkes".   I almost wish there was MORE to their story because darn it ended.

*** Book Review- Tough Justice by Tee O'Fallon

Mystery & Thrillers, Romance

Description

It should have been a routine investigation. Instead, DEA K-9 agent Adam “Deck” Decker watches in horror as one Denver hospital seems to be Ground Zero for overdoses of a new drug. Now Deck can only hope a certain icy, green-eyed ER doctor will help him and his canine partner track down the deadly source.

Dr. Tori Sampson has her reasons for not trusting federal agents, especially ones working for the DEA. But the rash of overdoses—including a heartbreaking case involving a teen—is alarmingly high. And the new opioid is not only extremely dangerous, it defies all the usual medical treatments. So Tori has a choice: work with the big, brawny, and annoyingly hot DEA agent…or watch more innocent people die.

Tori’s the only person who can help Deck break the case, and they’ll need to trust each other, no matter how high the tension and attraction sizzling between them runs. But with every question answered, they realize there’s something more behind these typical teen overdoses. There’s a pattern here, and a pattern can only suggest one thing. There’s a killer on the loose.

This story was intense, with really great depth over all.  The emotions in the story was also so well felt. It was also totally unpredictable in the best possible ways. I liked the unusual approach in the opening of the book.

The sparks really did fly off the main characters when they met.  Antagonistic sparks because of their professions. I found that to be an interesting take because they were SO into their reasons for what they felt.

The big drug kingpin really had me going when it came to guessing who that could be.   After a while, I was leaning one way with a specific person.  But then finally went, "No way, couldn't be."  Until I just threw up my arms and confessed that I just didn't know.  There were several good suspects. I loved that the author did a good job of twisting and turning me around!

Thor, Thor.  Loved, Loved, Loved him.  He was a dog with so many interesting abilities, almost like a wonder dog. Deck had quite the crime fighting partner in Thor.  But he also provided some really sweet moments too.  And Thor and the cat?  Priceless!

The action was top notch throughout and it doesn't let up at all.  And the ending was everything I could hope for.

I just have to mention, one of my favorite scenes has Deck in all his tough guy warrior gear.  And the way he pulls two business cards out of his thigh pocket.. is so hot. The way it was written was so sexy,it just got to me.

The title caught my attention right away !  And I always enjoy dual P.O.V.'s and this one had good ones.

Sophia came across as a toe the line, good girl but also had some fire that comes out.  Leo the charmer was used to lining up women to do things his way.  He's not used to hearing "no."  Better buckle up Leo, you are about to go for a wild ride ! This woman is not impressed with your usual tricks, like riches and charm that works with most women.

One of the things that I enjoyed about Leo was how he was amused at different times with Sophia.  Things that might make others mad he found amusing. She intrigued the heck out of him.

The world building was good as was the dangers that they encountered.  You never really knew where or when the new challenge was coming.

I was totally satisfied with how the book ended.

This story ended up being even better than I expected.  Starting with the tightly controlled, ladylike Kit.   I felt sorry for her more than once when it came to how much she had to keep this "society face" on. She really had more fire and determination to her and I was glad we got to see that more as the story went on.  It was like she had 2 faces.  She was also someone who helped but at times also got in the way during the investigation.

Kit's bodyguard Shane turned out to be such a skilled man who also knew how to turn on the charm. He was also someone who was walking in two worlds.  One foot in his heritage from England and one in his heritage from Texas.

Beginning in Chapter 8, it holds a twist that totally surprised me !  So well done and so are the surprises that are coming.  I liked that and also the way that the story ended.

This story pulled me in right away and just didn't let go.   I'm still a bit gritty eyed because I just couldn't put the story down.  And yes, I definitely read WAY past my bedtime.

First of all, Pippa was such a great, spunky while terrified main character.  I loved her, "Aha moment" when she decided enough people have jerked her around to want they wanted.  When she realizes she has no say in anything. Then it's time to take her own decisions back into her own hands.  So when she runs?  She gives everyone a run for their money. Her emotions throughout the story was not only shown but so easy to feel and understand.

Her brother Zac shows up in the story and you can just feel the emotions of how scared and adrift he had to feel too.  His whole family has been pulled apart.  His best friend, Finn was also quite the surprise. He gets pulled into her escape at first but then he is all in.

What a birth family Pippa/ Greta has. They are NOT as perfect as they appear and I really felt for Pippa.  They allow her almost no time to settle down from HER upheaval.  For several it was more about them and how they can change her or control her.  Or even ignore her.  I was on the fence about Dave (her dad) for quite a while.

I liked how the story ended and with a whole lot of secrets all exposed.  And being dealt with.

On a side comment, "Greta Grout, what a horrible name."  I liked that she had more than one reason to hate that name.

I was able to read this book through Amazon Prime reading and I'm so glad that I did.  I think I've found a new to me author to check out.

Book Review- Sweetheart Reunion ( #1 of the Bayou Series) by Lenora Worth

The last person Alma Blanchard expects to waltz into her bayou café is Julien LeBlanc. If seeing him again weren't painful enough, her handsome ex-beau announces that he aims to settle down with her. The boy she broke up with in high school was not the settling-down type! As his courting continues, though, Julien softens her heart with his devotion and faith. But how can she ever forgive him and put aside her fear that he'll break her heart again? Alma has always believed a happily-ever-after just wasn't meant for her. What will it take for Julien to prove her wrong?

AMAZON LINK

A sweet story even with the challenges that the main characters faced.  Stubbornness, fear, pride and unforgiveness figure among those challenges.   The distance between Alma and Julien lasted years.  Years that they both were miserable because of their broken hearts.
The sense of community was great and the people were interesting and strong in not only their faith  but also in helping each other.  The world building was really good.
I liked how the story ended with a hard fought H.E.A.  I was also surprised that there was a discussion questions at the end.  I wasn't expecting that.

I read this book through the Hoopla program.

Book Review- Claiming What's Mine (Lost Boys Book 5) by Janice Whitaker

I’m not Mr. Forever.

I’m barely Mr. Right Now.

I’ve got no business taking a second glance at Josie. The single mother is too sweet and too soft for someone like me.

She deserves a man cut out for fatherhood. A man cut out for happiness.

I’m neither of those things.

I might not be what Josie deserves, but when someone threatens her and her daughter’s safety I can sure as hell be what she needs.

A man who will put his life on the line to protect them both.

I have terrible taste in men.

Always have, clear back to the one who gave me the only thing that matters in my life.

That’s why, when I meet a man who calls himself Moon, I’m sure he’s one more bad decision I shouldn’t make.

Everything about him is dangerous, from the perfect cut of his clothes to the darkness I see in his eyes.

And I still can’t stay away from him.

Something about him makes me feel safe in a way I never have before.

And I need that right now.

Because I’m hiding a secret.

One that should make him want to stay away from me.

I felt off balance with this story and all the people who were in it.  I guess part of that reason is because this is Book 5 but my first time reading any of this series.  It also made it harder for me to rate it too !  I have such mixed feelings about it. Although the world building and the emotions were done well, the pace of the book often slowed down more than I enjoyed.

Both Moon and Josie were good main characters.  Although I enjoyed Josie's daughter,, Clara I also felt some confusion over how she was portrayed.  Although she asked good questions I also felt like she also acted much younger than 8 years old.  I did enjoy how Clara and Moon develop a relationship.

Violet made the beginning of this book.  She made me smile, a lot.  She was one wild senior citizen with a load full of sass and spunk.  She was a total hoot.  And each time she showed up, she remained the same.

There is plenty of dangerous action, but it also comes to a good conclusion.

P.S. I didn't really need the BDSM club scenes.

I found this story to be a sweet second chance story that has a touch of danger.  The world building was really well done as is the emotional drama between the two main characters.

It also has Christian elements woven delicately in the story. It's a clean story without sexual scenes in it.    Which is another reason I wished I liked it a bit more.  It does concluded with a sweet H.E.A. though
