4.5 STARS

This story was one that had great , creative world-building, interesting main characters, and plenty of intrigue and action.  And not to be forgotten is the emotional elements as well.

Raina puts herself in even a more dangerous positions as she tries to get out from under her father's thumb.  Shield Guardian Enbrackon seems to be helpful but is he?  As I read on it was easier to see what kind of character he had.

Her  father (Synintel) definitely is a master puppeteer with little or no consideration for others.  He definitely enjoys the power he exerts.  I really wanted to see him get pulled down from his "throne."  Even if more honorable things might come out about him, I never did warm to him.

Kevin is a highly skilled man of honor who is caught between a rock and a hard place. And Raina's father is jerking him all over the place.

Having been forced into marriage, they still were also fighting their deep attraction.  That happened as they spent more time together.  That made for some interesting times.  Four years of a non-marriage, marriage was something else.  I really liked the both of them.

Kevin's Team were such a great addition, making for a "family" of friends.

More dramatic things happen towards the ending that left the door open for more adventures.
