BOOK BOOK REVIEW- When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting

Avery Spark is living her best life. Between her friends, her sisters, and Spark House, the event hotel her family owns, she doesn’t have much time for anything else, especially relationships. She’d rather hang out with her best friend and roommate, Declan McCormick, than deal with the dating scene. But everything changes when she is in a car accident and needs someone to care for her as she heals.

Declan avoids relationships, giving him a playboy reputation that he lives up to when he puts a one-night stand ahead of a promise he made to Avery. While he may not have been the one driving the car, he feels responsible for Avery’s injuries and is determined to make it up to her by stepping into the role of caretaker.

Little did they know that the more time they spend in compromising positions, the attraction they’ve been refusing to acknowledge becomes impossible to ignore. When they finally give in to the spark between them, neither is prepared for the consequences. Their love is fragile and all it will take is a blow from the past to shatter it all.   AMAZON LINK

3.5 STARS

Before I was really very far into Chapter 4 I was already really interested in Avery and her sisters,  London and Harley. Declan jut seemed to be a man-whore at this point.  Then the emotions of the story really did kick in especially after the accident.  What Avery went through trying to recover felt real.  The physical limitations were well done. It also gave time to expand on the "real" parts of Declan.   And boy, had his Mom and Dad messed him up !  Which is another part that he has to get past but not before it messes with the good things in his life for a bit.

I also enjoyed the dual P.O.V.'s of Avery and Declan.  It  felt so well done..all the emotions were there for sure.

Avery has a major challenge and it's not just healing from the accident.  She is a mover and shaker, constantly on the move.   Being immobile is not her idea of a vacation like other people might think.  To her it's her idea of a nightmare.

This isn't a insta-love so I liked how the friendship had been in place for quite a while.  And how Declan was there to help  Avery  and he was so understanding.  But then he also felt such guilt for the one time he needed to be for her and wasn't.  That began to feel a little bit overplayed after a while.  I liked that there was humor in the story and that Avery had some sass to her.  And then things also got physical between them and that was done well.  But then things started to level off story-wise and my interest started to level off as well.

The story does have a a good ending and I was glad that it did.

I voluntarily read and am reviewing an advanced

copy  of this book from Netgalley.  All thoughts
