**Book Review- The Bodyguard (Book #1 Kisses & Crimes Series) by Natalie Wrye

 The Bodyguard

 Previously published as FOOL'S GOLD

A past she can't remember.
A secret he won't reveal.
A forbidden love affair that may ruin it all.

After a horrifying event leaves Daniela Bishop awake one morning with no memory of her life, her husband, brooding bodyguard Bishop, is her best chance to piece her broken memories back together again.

Belief in Bishop is a risk...especially when Dani knows nothing about the dark-haired Adonis in her bed.

Gorgeous, dangerous and untouchable, the man she lives with may be her only hero in a world where nothing is recognizable, a fact which terrifies and thrills Dani.

Trusting the mysterious man she's married to might be the biggest gamble of her young, sheltered life.

But when danger draws near, when the sins of her forgotten past reemerge, Dani must realize that betting on Bishop (and her growing attraction to him) might not just be her best chance...

It may be her last. AMAZON LINK

I liked this story but have to also admit that I got lost in the story more than once.  Lost in meaning that like Dani, I didn't know what the heck was going on !  Was Bishop a god guy or not?  Who is he, really?  Why is he holding her captive?  Is it really for her protection?  What are his real motives is something that will continue to be a question for most of the book.
Dani is understandably confused and having amnesia isn't helping one little bit.  Being held practically like a prisoner isn't either.  And Bishop isn't helping much in the answer section either.
Her fear and frustration is off the charts.  But then again so are the twists and turns in this story.  It like being in a car  moving fast on a winding, curving road and taking quick turns on the roadway.
There are plenty of enemies to keep the M.C.'s on the run with just a FEW people on their side trying to help.
I also liked the comparison of the "old Dani" to the "now new Dani".   She's still a tough cookie but now just different. A better version now.
I liked how the story ended with a H.E.A. for now for the M.C.'s.  Why for now?  Because some but not ALL the villains have been dealt with.
It looks like there are more books to come dealing with other people  who are now in the fight.

I read this book through Hoopla part of the Library.
