The whole Tremaine family was engaging even Elinor's somewhat stodgy brother, Philip ( Viscount Rycote.)
Her mother and father, Lord and Lady Penworth were quite a team all on their own and manage to find the fun in things.  Of course they also know when to draw the line when it comes to being proper.
Elinor was called Norrie by close family and friends and that includes Harry.  Her brother is the one who first came up with that nickname when it was almost impossible for him to say her real name. She used to tag along behind her brother and his best friend Harry for years.  She was pretty much fearless.

Harry had such a horrible home life that he was pretty much "adopted" by the Tremaine family and spent much of his time with them.  His parents might be titled but they were also busy causing scandal after scandal.  Harry was so ashamed of his family and felt that he couldn't have a love of his own because he didn't want them to have to deal with it or them.  But things are getting tougher for Harry because he is crazy about Norrie and any man just trying to make a move on her is enough to cause him to erupt.

Like I said I enjoyed the Tremaine family and the main characters.  I enjoyed the romance that develops between Norrie and Harry. I even like the unexpected romance that Philip/Pip runs into.  There is also several dangerous secrets that have to be resolved and I enjoyed that too.

The story did have plenty of details, but I just would have liked it a bit better if there had been less of the history lessons.  That's my own personal opinion and maybe others enjoyed it more than I did.  I guess I was more interested in the people parts of the story.
