BOOK REVIEW- MAIL ORDER DOCTOR

Julia O’Brien is a practical woman. A nurse and midwife, she was perhaps the most surprised when she fell in love with Dr. Matthew Reynolds and agreed to be his mail order bride. She sets off for Tombstone carrying his letters and a heart full of hope.
Dr. Matthew Reynolds didn’t want a wife, and is shocked when Julia arrives on his door step with a marriage license bearing his signature. He discovers that his grandfather has wooed the young woman without his knowledge, and made promises in his name without permission. An annulment seems to be the easy answer, but Julia has nowhere to go. Now, his unwanted wife is sleeping in his house, working with him at his clinic, and generally driving him to distraction.
When a call comes in from a desperate young mother, Julia handles the call alone. The young woman gives birth to a beautiful baby girl, but does not survive childbirth. Suddenly, Matthew is faced with a new choice, not only does he have a beautiful and caring wife, but a precious new daughter to fill his empty life. But Julia is not willing to accept less than his whole heart, and when the young infant’s father attempts to steal her away, Matthew will have to move heaven and earth to convince the woman he has grown to love that he can be what she needs.   AMAZON  3 Stars is what I'm giving it.

I liked Julia, she sure walked into an unexpected mess.  As people got to know her, they liked her too.  So much so, that she received several marriage proposals.  Sounds strange right?  Well, the whole town pretty much knew that she was only married on paper.  How, humiliating, especially for Julia!  She hadn't done anything to deserve that.  It was just another rejection, something she really didn't need with her history.
Matthew was one stubborn, hardheaded guy.  Yes, I understand that he felt like he was being coerced but finally more than half way through the book I thought, "He has to be the dumbest smart (educated) man."   His frequent refrain was, "Give me more time, I need more time." Made me want to smack him right in the head.  He wouldn't see it, but he was also being selfish.  He was surprised when people began to tell him just that fact.
Walt, was a likable old coot.  He's Matthew's grandfather, the creator of the whole mess.  There were a few times that he was a bit hard to take. It was when he kind of rubbed Matthew's face in the fact that he thought he'd  done a great thing.  There are other interesting people in the story including Matthew's brothers.  So although I liked the book, it was more a pleasant read with not a lot of surprises in it.

Just as a additional thought.  The cover for this book is a good looking one.  It didn't feel like it fit the story.   BUT, it is an attention getter and caused me to read the book blurb.  So I guess it worked.

I received a copy of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
