BOOK REVIEW- THE HORSEMAN'S FRONTIER FAMILY

The Cowboy Meets His Match - Everything Gideon Thornton has worked for is in jeopardy, all because of one stubborn woman. Evelyn Montgomery insists that Gideon's new claim from the Oklahoma Land Rush legally belongs to her. Both refuse to budge—even when the law says that until their dispute is settled, they must share the land. Their family feud has taught Evelyn that Thortons can't be trusted. Yet day by day Gideon's thoughtfulness to Evelyn, and especially to her young son, shows the real truth. A truth that may mean the end of her claim…and the start of a future big enough to encompass both their dreams. LINK

A good story, with distrust, painful pasts and shaky futures.  There was also good friends and families. The longstanding feud, caused plenty of fights and near fights; both with words and fists.  Both Gideon and Evelyn were strong, interesting people , who were fighting very uncomfortable situations. I liked them both.  One of the things that Gideon is fighting is his anger at God. This book is about faith, forgiveness and has some scripture in it as well.  Evelyn's son, Walt added some interesting moments as well as touching some hard, closed off hearts. Evelyn's brothers were some kind of crazy at times when it comes to their hatred of anything Thornton.    They loved her and she loved them but that didn't make things any better, most of the time.   Gideon's brothers were loving, have your back kind of guys but they also didn't trust Evelyn's brothers either.
Although I liked this story, there were times like it felt like it dragged a bit.  I would have also liked to know what caused Walt to stop speaking.   The answer to that question was never answered.

There is a discussion session at the end of this book as well as an Excerpt for "His Chosen Bride"by Rhonda Gibson.
