BOOK REVIEW- BEAUTY'S CURSE

For four years, Princess Aurora of Rhone—Rose to her friends—has searched the world for a way to break the curse placed on her by Magdalina, the wicked ruler of the fairies at war with her kingdom. Under the curse, Rose is doomed to die on her eighteenth birthday after pricking her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel. And time is running out.
On the eve of her seventeenth birthday, Rose makes the journey home with her friends—Theo, a priest with a penchant for revenge; Mary, a young and talented fairy; and Ethan and Sophia, siblings with a troubled past–as pressure from her father, King Stefanos, leaves her with two equally unsatisfying options: Abdicate the throne, or get married.  AMAZON 4 STARS

This story throws you right into some violent action early in the very first chapter (The Prologue). The whole story just flowed really well.
It's noted by Theo early on that Rose was a warrior through and through.  And she is because she has had to be.  She isn't going to just lay down and accept her fate as it has been dictated.  Her mother and father, the King and Queen are not the kind of people who inspire warmth and loyalty.  Rose does have proven loyalty and love from the band of people who surround her.   They have fought by her side for several years.  You have to give Rose credit for her courage because at the age of 13, her father was trying to marry her off. Yuck. She managed to get rid of suitors right and left.    But she began to realize she was a commodity to him and she wasn't going to go along with it.   Each and every one of her adopted clan were interesting and so different. But they worked and worked together well.  Theo, what a good guy he was and I was rooting for him. Especially as you could see that his feelings for Rose were deeper than most people saw.   That includes, Rose of course too.  Two questions kept coming up.  First question is.. what is The King hiding?  He seems to be The King of Secrets.  Because it becomes clear that Rose is being punished because of him.  Magdalina, even somewhat confirms it when she unexpectedly shows up in public.   My second question?   Is Prince Phillip a good guy or is he a wolf in sheeps clothing?
Well, I guess we might get the answers to those questions in the next book.  Because Rose has come up with a plan of her own.  That means more adventures to come and the story isn't finished yet.

What a beautiful cover this book has.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
