MY REVIEW-10 STARS TITLE: MORE THAN THEY THOUGHT THEY COULD BE
Although there were a lot of people in this story, a lot of different aliens, I loved this story. The Prologue starts out with Arid Koveli, the alien assassin. He had several close friends, who not only knew what he was, but remained loyal to him and served him faithfully. Comes out as close as they are they don't DARE Fascinating !
Arid's friend/ former assassin, Jado, is now king, married to Phoebe, interesting couple.
Betrayal is EVERYWHERE, dangers, deaths, assassinations, attempts to murder.
And right in the middle of it all is not only Arid but also our other central person, human, Amber Takach. She has no idea what's going on but she sure is unexpectedly attracted to that huge alien, Arid. Amber is WANTED by everyone. And they kill to try to get her and sell her. I loved how Arid did his best to protect Amber, many times to his own hurt.
Amber was great and she picks up a "pet" along the way. A cute one, who is way more than she can even think of. But he saved her many times and no way, was she leaving, her alien Tavish, behind. He was now family !!!
Natalya, was Amber's friend who had been through some hellish stuff. But they have each other's back, even though they get separated several times in dangerous situations.Even when Natalya told Amber to run, she wouldn't leave her best friend.
Amber has made some enemies where she works though. Lexi is one of them, who really has it out for her. Turns out there is more to Lexi as well.
I enjoyed the whole story, and it was even better because it included a great Epilogue.
I read this book through Hoopla and was glad that it was offered.
