Book Review: SHATTERED by Dani Pettrey

Shattered
This is Book # 2  about the McKenna family of Yancey, Alaska.
This time there's been a murder in their usually quiet town, but it looks like a slam dunk on who is the killer. Rafe McKenna, the younger brother, who left town (and family) as soon as he could.  The family hasn't heard much from him or seen him until he comes stumbling into his sister Piper's home covered in blood.  All the evidence says Rafe is the murder, the town is quick to believe it but not spunky Piper. Deputy Landon Grainger is almost family, but he must find the truth and he's not convinced of Rafe's innocence.

I liked the book, it had a good story line.  The only thing I would point out is that it dragged a bit at one point; where Landon was so sunk in his unworthiness; because it hinders his ability to share his love for Piper.  I think it probably was necessary to show his struggle but thankfully when the story moves on; it does just that.  A few things were kind of predictable but maybe its because I'm watched a lot of T.V. and read a lot of books.  With that said, I still liked the book and it did have twists and turns.

What is also important to me is that it is a "clean book" to read. No soft porn entries or sex scenes; thank you very much!!   I probably should add that the subject of faith is included in this story but not in a way that takes over the story; in case people are worried about that.  Its very skillfully (I think anyway) woven into the story.
Side Note:  Come on, when is the author going to do Kayden McKenna and Jake's story?   Its been simmering in the background through both books. Kayden is intense and incredibly rude to Jake; that sounds like a lot of hurt in that girl; a great story in the making, I'm sure.   Looking forward to that one too.  She's already got my curiosity going; good job.  Do I sense a possible story about Gage McKenna and Darcy St. James?  That one could be interesting too! Yes, I'm enjoying this series.

I received a free copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.
