Book Review: LEARNING TO LOVE

Learning to Love: Passion, Compassion and the Essence of the Gospel
Its Heidi and Rolland Baker telling their story of where there love for Jesus has taken them.  Different areas that Iris Ministries has grown into spreading help, love and going into the most difficult, impossible places.  Its their story but also the stories of other people who have "caught" the passion for Jesus and the "passion" for the people who need Him.  Through out Heidi & Rolland's story is the realization that they are NOT qualified to do what they do.  Knowing that they must be completely  dependent on God, being completely obedient to him when what He's asking them to do looks impossible.

God used an interesting way to touch Heidi's heart in the beginning.  A little girl, lost, alone, abandoned and the sudden thought came to her, "if I don't pause to show this child even the smallest, most basic act of kindness,  then who will? " It all started with just that one!  She shows again and again that the Gospel is simple, So simple that its," Love God and Love the one in front of you."  How good, how simple is that?
She  also learned that," Love looks like something.''  That sentence alone, stood out in this book.  Love is not powerless, its unstoppable, it never quits.  I have several friends that I will be passing this book on to; knowing that they too will enjoy what was shared in this book.  Will everyone enjoy it? Maybe not, but there are enough that will.

I received a free copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers
(Chosen Books) as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.
