Book Review- Kell: (Macklins of Whiskey Bend Book 4) by Shirleen Davies**

Kellen Brooks is a broken man. Leaving his position in Special Forces three years earlier, he fought hard to build a new life and heal his damaged body. Working for his close friend, Boone Macklin, gives him purpose and a reason to focus on the future. Nothing else matters except soothing his wounded soul and reclaiming the family ranch.

Bethany Hutchison is determined to reach her goal of being accepted into law school. Working as a paralegal in a prestigious firm, combined with hours of classwork, takes all her time. Other than daily runs, nothing else could fit into her already packed schedule.

Kell’s early morning runs on the high school track, strengthen his recovering body and clear his mind. Nothing interferes with each day’s goal, until a beautiful, leggy blonde sprints onto the track, stealing his breath.

As their fragile connection builds, an unexpected danger threatens to destroy whatever future they may have. Friends of Kell’s are being targeted, and now the assailants are after Beth.

Kell, book four in the Macklins of Whiskey Bend Contemporary Western Romance series, is a stand-alone, full-length novel with an HEA and no cliffhanger.

4 STARS

I liked both Kell and Bethany. And also their friends who have become more like family than just friends.  That was definitely Kell's experience even more than Bethany's.  Because wow his family basically screwed him over.  His father especially was a man without honor. The men who surrounded Kell were the exact opposite.  They were loyal, honest and were more like good brothers who supported each other. Boone, Del, Cliff, Zane,  are just a few of the names of people that had a part to play in this story.

The on and off friendship and romance between Kell and Bethany was easy to be pulled into. I think that's because the emotions and struggle was well shown.

The mystery and suspense was good in this story.  There was at least one man who was running for his life as things started to be uncovered.  Of course, Kell and others needed to watch their backs as well.  Bethany being pulled into danger is something that Kell has feared all a long.

The ending to the story comes with a sweet Epilogue.

" I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this book,  and this is my honest opinion about it.
