Book Review: Rules of Murder

Rules of Murder

Drew Farthering is a stylish, well to do man who has a country estate in England. Both he and his childhood friend Nick love a good mystery.  Much of what he and Nick have learned in books will be put to the test as a murder takes place in his home.  But this is way more personal than just reading in a book and there is also a guest from America (Madeline Parker) who is mesmerizing him as well.  Hard to keep his mind on solving the crime but he has to get it together  because there's more going on than meets the eye. And more bodies are getting ready to fall.

I liked it. I really, really liked this book.   A fun, interesting, mystery with plenty of twist and turns; (which I like) and a sweet romance brewing.  Just about the time I thought I knew who the killer was, there would be another twist; very subtly written. I can remember thinking, " I need to read faster, because I know who the killer is."  Then I suddenly came to a screeching halt when a part of the story revealed there was no way that what I had guessed was right.  Please forgive me if that sounds unclear but I'm trying not to give away to much of the story; for those who haven't read it yet.  I know I hate it when that happens when I am reading reviews for a book, that I might want to read.   I liked Drew, Nick and Madeline and hope that the author has more mystery books in mind with these characters.  Even the villains were a surprise.

I received a free copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers (A Division of Baker Publishing Group as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review.
