BOOK REVIEW- THE COWBOY'S MAKE BELIEVE BRIDE by Kristi Rose

Searching for a new future…

Fortune “Fort” Besingame left ranch life years ago, joining the Navy to escape the shame of his father’s gambling addiction and the enormity of his losing the ranch on a bet. Now Fort has returned to Wyoming, to his mother’s ranch in hopes to start a new life. A former Military Police, he wants to run for Sheriff… but convincing the townsfolk Fort intends to put down roots in the small community is going to take more than words. He needs a bride.

Running from the past…

Cori Walters realizes she will never become the photographer she dreams of being in the town where her father’s – former mayor turned cattle rustler – legacy taints everything she attempts to accomplish. When her friend offers her a temporary job posing as a fiancé, Cori decides going to Wyoming might be just the new start she needs. Until she realizes her pretend groom-to-be is someone she knows from high school… And hates her.
Somehow Fort and Cori have to put aside their family differences long enough to get Fort elected.

If they don’t kill each other – or fall in love.   AMAZON 4 STARS

This book was emotional and quirky too.  I liked both of the main characters.   And as much as they might hate it in the beginning they did have at least a couple of things in common.  A desire to be respected and at least one irresponsible parent who caused them to take on problems at such an incredibly young age.  They also both had good moral fiber because it would have been so much easier to just skip out and leave the messes to others.
I liked that we got to read BOTH of the main characters P.O.V.  It drew me, the reader in even faster. I could sympathize with both.  There is also humor in their story too.  Some of their conversations made me smile, in fact they were hilarious!   Cori was tiny but fierce.  A couple of things that made me smile was Fort's observations about Cori.  That she always had a "challenge face."  Between her high energy and that "face" she was often exhausting.  The other smile worthy thought was that he never saw her coming.  True in more ways than one.

What a friend they had in Sabrina.  No, seriously I mean that.
Deke was quite a surprise too, he and Fort butted heads big time and made for an interesting twist to the story.

It was an interesting journey to a H.E.A. for Cori and Fort, but they do make it there as they solve some other mysteries along the way.  There will be plenty of drama and it won't all be coming just from Cori and Fort.

I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
