BOOK REVIEW- THE CHRISTMAS HEIST by Mallory Crowe
Christmas is a time for family.
A time for love.
A time for giving.
What better way to give to the poor than to steal from the rich?
Reconnect with the sexy and sizzling pair of Austin and Jennifer as they dip their toes into the criminal waters, but only for a good cause of course! It isn't like they get off on this or anything.
.AMAZON 4 STARS
This was a short but fun romp. I like the way the story starts out with a mystery. Austin has promised that they were BOTH going to take a break from their thieving. They had a daughter now and were trying to give her a normal, stable life. Whatever that looked like because neither of them really knew exactly what that is. But Austin sees this mystery that is coming after them as a threat to his family and so he tries to go it alone. Mistake and it's a Big, hawking mistake. Austin isn't afraid of getting caught, isn't afraid of the cops or much else. But the one thing he is afraid of? Jennifer catching on to the fact that he's going ahead with things..without her.
But hey, he's missed the buzz, the rush of getting away with things when it comes to a heist. Besides he's protecting his family, right?
It doesn't take long for Jennifer to figure what he's up to and she's not a happy camper. But she does go all in when she confronts Austin. She does that in style too.
Quite the unexpected twist at the end but I could almost feel one coming.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
BOOK REVIEW- CLAIMING HER ALIEN WARRIOR by Mina Carter
In a race against the clock, she must betray his trust to achieve her mission… But fooling an alien warrior comes with a price.
No longer a captive but a guest of the alien warrior race, the Lathar, Jane Allen hasn’t forgotten what she is: a hard as nails marine major. Tasked with finding a way to beat the technologically advanced aliens, she needs to find answers for her superiors… before they arm the nukes and give the Lathar an excuse for war. Because the little green men aren’t so little. Or green… they’re large, ripped, scarily-attractive alpha male warriors hot enough to make any red-blooded woman weak at the knees. Especially one particular alien warrior with black hair and a sexy growl she can’t resist…
She’s his… she just doesn’t know it yet.
Karryl K’Vass has wanted the human woman, Jane, from the moment he saw her. But she’s a tricky one, evading his claim even though he knows she desires him. His campaign for her heart is stalled when duty calls him away; a mission into a dangerous part of space to gather intelligence on the Empire’s enemies. A beautiful stowaway is the last thing he needs, even if she does make his body burn. He’ll finish his mission and get her back to the safety of Lathar Prime… Then maybe he can claim her as his mate.
But no plan survives contact with the enemy. Reptilian mercenaries, a crash landing, and a case of amnesia later and they land in the clutches of their enemies who think it would be better if Karryl took a long walk out of a short airlock…AMAZON 4 STARS
I enjoyed this story. It was easy to read with a good flow.
Both of the M.C.'s were good but I have to go even a step further and say that Jane was one kick-butt character. And I really liked her. Karryl wasn't exactly like I had expected, he was even better. He was a tough warrior but he was also so sweet at times with his desire to win Jane over. Speaking of desire, there will be the somewhat expected sex scenes to the story but the book isn't overloaded with them like some are.
There are a couple of twists to the story which I always enjoy.

BOOK REVIEW- SAVING THE SHERIFF by Roxanne Snopek
The power might be out...but the heat is on. Will this felon burn him?
Every Christmas, free-spirited Frankie Sylva banishes her holiday loneliness with good deeds. This time, she's rescuing a truckload of neglected reindeer--until a blizzard sidetracks her scheme, and now she's stuck...literally.
Local sheriff Red LeClair is shocked to find a very cute, half-frozen woman trespassing on Three River Ranch in a ditched rig, with a suspiciously empty trailer. Is she a horse thief? Is she on the run? Is she out of her mind? He has no choice but to take her back to the ranch and keep an eye on her.
But when the power goes out, Red and Frankie are forced to depend on each other in a way that both have avoided for years. The sheriff's quiet holiday is suddenly festive: a crackling fire, candles, carols, and an irresistible stranger...who might be a felon. AMAZON 5 STARS
Loved it! The story had great main characters, an interesting, different kind of plot mixed with a lot of humor. It was also emotional without being so heavy you got weighted down in it. You could feel the loneliness of both of them but also it was easy to care that things would work out for them.
Several of the things Red thought about Frankie, was that she was a cute elf (you'll have to read the book to get more about that). He was also feisty, smiley, intriguing, unsettling and challenging. Also at times so easy to be around. What a mix, right?
Red deserved a whole lot better than life had dealt him. He was a good guy, who cared about people but he was just a bit wary of getting too close to other people. He couldn't help but become entangled with the out-going, intense Frankie who had a heart of gold. To be honest he never stood a chance against Frankie. Which turned out to be a very good thing.
The conversation that Frankie had with herself was funny. I did a lot of smiling reading this book. Frankie was just as funny with others. I really enjoyed the flow of this book; it was chock full for being a novella.
One example of how interesting the observations were was when Red was thinking about how he imagined his loneliness as a yawning void, one he kept contained. He avoided it, didn't want to fall into it and be destroyed. His thoughts about the way Frankie looked at loneliness was so funny and seemed to fit her personality as we learned it. "He imagined Frankie opening hers and laughing into the depths just to hear the echo." Loved that, it had to be one of my favorites!
There was also some funny additions by some secondary characters in the book. Bliss is just such a character; she doesn't show up a lot but when she does? Oh boy!
Overall, a wonderful story to sit down to.

BOOK REVIEW- THE PERFECT TREE by Roz Denny Fox, Ann DeFee and Tanya Michaels
Noelle And The Wise Man by Roz Denny Fox: Camden Latimer had inherited his grandfather's Christmas tree farm in Oregon. Honey is rescued by a little old man on a snowmobile who takes her to the Magic Tree Farm. The door was answered by Matt De Luca, Honey's ex-husband. Tanner And Baum by Tanya Michaels: Tanner Waide walked away from Mistletoe, Georgia, and the woman he loved he thought that he was doing what was best for both of them. Now he was returning home with out a job. Lilah Baum had became a school teacher and was getting on with her life, that didn't included Tanner. Will Lilah find a way to forgive Tanner for leaving her behind? AMAZON 4 STARS
Story #1- Noelle And The Wise Man by Roz Denny Fox
Honey and Camden have quite the first meeting. And you can just tell that the "friction" between them is just going to get "worse". Especially when the property boundaries get disputed. Both of the main characters are good ones, both with a passionate disposition.
Misunderstanding after misunderstanding happens of course. But there is also times where they click together pretty well.
Another thing that they have in common is that they aren't afraid of hard work. One major difference is that Honey grew up with a close-knit family, in one place where the majority of the town cared for her. Cam had the exact different experience. But that didn't mean that he didn't want to be special to someone and have family.
The story has a H.E.A. with a very nice Epilogue.

Story #2-ONE MAGIC CHRISTMAS by Ann DeFee
Short, Sweet and Charming, that is how I would describe this book. . A perfectly good story for the Holidays.
I liked both of the M.C.'s and thought that Matt and Honey were pretty well developed as likable people, in this shorter book (novella). It didn't take long for me to be rooting for them to be together. Wow, they might have been pretty young when they first got together but they sure had the cards stacked against them then. It was a really good look at how lives were screwed up because of the control of others.
Not a pretty picture but an amusing re-meeting of Matt and Honey, does bring around a second chance. Now what are they going to do with it?
The 3 kids mentioned in the blurb were a welcome addition and of course the youngest was especially charming.
I'm still smiling from the warmth of the story.

Tanner And Baum by Tanya Michaels
Boy, did Tanner ever mess up big time. He ran off from his hometown and now he's run back after being caught up in some unsavory business. Oh, he wasn't at fault but still things don't look good for his climbing up the business ladder.
Vonda, was a hoot and she takes no prisoners. She doesn't have to. At a spunky seventy- three years old she tells it like it is. She definitely made me smile and became a favorite secondary character. Lilah's Aunt Shelby was also a strong character. She might have been a bit softer in her approach than Vonda but she was definitely the steel in a velvet glove when she needed to be.
One of my favorite lines in the book came from a conversation between, Tanner and his brother David. Tanner was complaining about his sister refusing to give him any updated information about Lilah and her life. David said that it was female solidarity. Tanner responded that David wouldn't think it was so amusing if they were united against him. Here's my favorite line (David) "I go out of my way not to tick them off. Do I look stupid to you?"
Will there be a H.E.A.? Well, yes it's Christmas, in a town called Mistletoe. But half the fun will be Tanner chasing after Lilah, trying to catch her...again. And she's not going to make it easy!

BOOK REVIEW- STATE OF GRACE by Elizabeth Davies
Grace has a terminal brain tumour and will die in the next few months. Roman has an addiction to blood, and could possibly live forever.
Grace is twenty-seven years old. When they meet in the twelfth century Roman is several hundred years old.
And Grace has another problem - she's from his future and neither of them believe it.
This is the first novel in the Resurrection series. AMAZON 3.5 STARS
The book description got my attention right away. I thought what a great idea for a story. I have to say though that I have mixed feelings about the book. Even though it did keep me interested and had plenty of action in it. There are parts of the book that I liked better than others.
Grace and Roman were both good characters but we end up knowing more about Grace in this story. And she wasn't hard to be drawn to either. The very first page of the book does hit you right between the eyes. I need to mention that this is definitely an adult story because of some of the violence and sex.
I want to say this without giving too much away. It was quite the interesting twist in Grace's physical appearance when she shows up in the past. So far the why of it is unexplained. There is also other unexplained things going on because this is only Book 1 in the series. A fact I must have missed.
Towards the end, the book felt like it began to drag a bit and then it ended..for now.

On a side note, I thought the eBook cover was attractive. It caught the eye.

BOOK REVIEW- TWINS FOR THE COWBOY by Linda Goodnight
“There were regular men and then there were real men. Nate Caldwell was the latter.”
Her daughters are everything to her...
Single mom Whitney Brookes needs this fresh start. A long-lost relative passed away and left her the ranch that's going to be her saving grace. The only problem--it's full of tiny critters that Whitney has no idea how to care for. She refuses to fail--her twin toddlers need the safety and security... and most of all, a place to belong.
He's been burned before.
As rugged as the land, Nate Caldwell grew up on the 11,000-acre Triple C Ranch. He's well acquainted with city women and is certain his new neighbor Whitney will bail as soon as her inheritance is settled. But that doesn't stop his traitorous heart from leaping every time the determined redhead gets near. And those twins... they fill up the dormant places in his heart.
When Whitney's livelihood is threatened, Nate realizes just how deep his feelings for her have gotten. But will his help come too late...? AMAZON 4 STARS
I liked both of the main characters who had more in common than they knew. Both were Christian people who had been burned by other people and they weren't eager to give love a try again. In simpler terms, they were afraid. Whitney was the newer Christian of the two but she was moving right along in her faith. She also had two of the cutest little girls who gravitate to Nate almost from the first moment. Maybe, they could also feel the goodness in him added to the fact that they really didn't have that many male influences in their lives.
Nate was as solid a guy as you could want but his self confidence had taken some major hits before his ex-wife left. It made him question so many of his perceptions about women. It also made him wonder just when the city girl, Whitney was going to throw in the towel and leave just like others had. Didn't take long to be pulling for a H.E.A. for him. And Whitney too, she was working her butt off and had so much heart even after everything she had been through.
Soon, "accidents" start happening; like feed overturned, animals getting out, gates unlocked. That makes Whitney wonder at first if she's just been careless or distracted. Doesn't take long to know that is not the case. I could almost guess the culprit/culprits but the twists and turns made it interesting.
Nate had a great family who added to the story.
The story kept me interested.

BOOK REVIEW- THE WREN by Kristy McCaffrey
Captured by Comanche as a child, Molly Hart was assumed dead. Ten years later, Texas Ranger Matt Ryan finds a woman with the same blue eyes.
Ten years have passed since Molly Hart’s ranch was attacked, her folks murdered and she was abducted. Now, at nineteen, she’s finally returning home to North Texas after spending the remainder of her childhood with a tribe of Kwahadi Comanche. What she finds is a deserted home coated with dust and the passage of time, the chilling discovery of her own gravesite, and the presence of a man she thought never to see again.
Matt Ryan is pushed by a restless wind to the broken-down remains of the Hart ranch. Recently recovered from an imprisonment that nearly ended his life, the drive for truth and fairness has all but abandoned him. For ten years he faithfully served the U.S. Army and the Texas Rangers, seeking justice for the brutal murder of a little girl, only to find closure and healing beyond his grasp. Returning to the place where it all began, he’s stunned to encounter a woman with the same blue eyes as the child he can’t put out of his mind.
A sensual historical western romance set in 1877 Texas. AMAZON 4 stars
Great main characters, with a bit of a different kind of plot. I enjoyed all of this emotional story. But don't be afraid to read it thinking that its all about emotion because it also has plenty of action and some mysteries too. There is a twist or two as well; it kept the story interesting.
It was also interesting that at least 3 people in the story had quite a lot of suffering and even some of it is physical suffering ones as well. That would be of course Molly, Matt and his friend, Nathan Blackmore. There is one other person who who qualifies for overcoming some serious challenges. Claire is a young woman that Molly befriends and she has her story in another book as does Nathan.
This is a book that I've wanted to read for quite a while and I was not disappointed in it.

BOOK REVIEW- Sarah's Duke and Ellie's Gentleman The Heir and a spare Book 1) by Fiona Meirs
Sarah's Duke: A Regency romance by Fiona Miers with FREE Bonus Short Story 'Ellie's Gentleman.'
Sarah Collins, a vicar’s daughter from Somerset, has a modest goal for her first Season in London—find a husband who can provide for her and her family. With nothing to offer but her beauty and a pleasant temperament, she hopes her assets will be enough to secure her a kind and steady man. She's certainly not looking for a fortune or title, and indeed, hopes she may live quietly in the country and never come to London again.
Oliver Lyre is the newly inherited Duke of Lincoln. Born as the 'spare' son, he never expected to inherit his father’s noble mantle, and has neither the social skills nor the desire to enjoy the benefits of his rank. He knows he must marry a lady befitting his new position, but when he rescues the beautiful Sarah Collins one night, he can’t envision a future without her sweet smile.
What's a duke to do—marry a delectable virgin who will undoubtedly make a horrid Duchess, or do what family duty demands of him … unless he can somehow find a way to have both?
Ellie's Gentleman A Regency short story
Ellie Sommers is twenty years old, beautiful and lively. However, returned home to the country after another long London season, she wants nothing more than to remain in her beloved little town and ride her horses. Will she ever find a husband who cherishes the same modest goals?
Robert Blakely is a widowed gentleman, come to spend Christmas with his long-time friend William Sommers. Convinced that he will never wish to marry again, Robert is shocked to find himself keenly interested in his friend's lovely daughter. Can it be that a girl half his age is his perfect match?
AMAZON 4 STARS
I liked both of these stories. Good Main characters in both.
In the first book, Sarah was such a sweet woman who is definitely over her head when it comes to dealing with Oliver when she finds out he is a duke. But she cared for him deeply before she learned about that. That is such a plus for Oliver who has been demeaned and ignored most of his life because he was the "spare". It had to be really be cruel to have such lack of care or affection for so many years. It makes it easy to understand how off balance he was feeling with suddenly becoming someone of importance only because he now had a title.
Oliver's family was something else and not a good thing. His mother was cold and his sister-in-law who expected to be a duchess and didn't care how she got there.
While I enjoyed Sarah and her honesty, there were a few times I wanted to shake her when it came to a few times when she put herself at risk. The mother-daughter relation was a pretty good one though.
I also enjoyed Lady Charlotte who befriends Sarah and becomes quite her champion. I was glad to see that there is a sneak peek into her story (and Archie's) in Book 2- "Lady Charlotte's Marquess" which I would like to read. There's some fire between the two of them.
Ellie's Gentleman was shorter story but also sweet and somewhat different than the usual romance. The best way to describe Ellie was that she was sweet but she also had some wild parts to her personality. Maybe it would be better to say that she was sweet but also passionate. I really like this one and it managed to pack quite a bit into the story.
H.E.A. all the way around.

Savor a respite from daily life as you read and meditate on devotions from best–selling author Randy Alcorn, a leading authority on Heaven. Picturing Heaven will offer you comfort and relaxation, while filling your heart with restful assurance that God prepares a special place for those who love Him. AMAZON 4 STARS
What would be just the one word that I would use to describe what this book is and what it makes the reader feel? Yes, I would say that it would be "Hope". It's a breath of fresh air. And don't forget about the fun part of the book, the ability to color it in. Why not have fun as you read the scriptures and the short teaching that is in each chapter? It is not too heavy to understand and I think it could be given to many different ages of people to enjoy.
This larger book would be a great gift for the upcoming Christmas season and really at any time. The size makes it easier to work with as a coloring book without being too large in my opinion. I am setting this book aside as a gift for someone who I know will enjoy it.
What a great way to give you a really good vision of Heaven, if you never really had one or you want to improve upon what you have.

BOOK REVIEW- WINTERS RISING by Shannyn Leah
*** SIZZLING SPICY EDITION ***
Brea was born a Second, a lowly class of people in the Lexcon society. But she also bore the birthmark that destined her to marry a Gatekeeper, the “superheroes” of their world. Some called her destiny a great privilege. She called it doomed to a cage with no key.Gatekeepers were born and raised to ensure time remained untainted and unchanged, but Brea saw them as overlords who looked down on her kind… on Seconds.

Will she and Jax always be at odds, or will their hearts bond together as their souls already have? Will Brea change the future of Lexcon, or will she be forever doomed to live life in the dark?
AMAZON 4 STARS
I really liked this book. I liked both Brea and Jax. It was incredible how clueless Jax was about what life was like for anyone with the label of Second. In the beginning he couldn't understand her resentment towards him as a Gatekeeper. This marriage was supposed to be an honor for her. He wasn't horrible to begin with but Brea sure got tossed into things way beyond her understanding. She had been raised to SERVE the Gatekeepers but had almost zero information about what that entailed. Jax does redeem himself as time goes on. But his family was less than helpful especially his father. He was a bully who I wanted to slap right in the head. It was cool to see Brea stand up to him. I would definitely sign him up for anger management if it was offered there.
His brother Declan needed some help in the attitude department as well. Not as bad as his father but he was leaning that way more than once. His sister, Gabrielle as a mixed bag. At times I liked her when she was kinder to Brea but she could also be incredibly insensitive at times too.
This story had plenty of surprises and twists in it with really good science fiction and world building. There was so much more truth that has been withheld from ALL of the citizens of this world.
I wasn't totally happy with the ending of this book but it does have a H.E.A. for now. But you can also see the trouble that will be coming if the story continues, which I bet it will.
On a side note, I really liked the cover for this eBook. It really caught my eye.

BOOK REVIEW- THE COWBOY'S MAKE BELIEVE BRIDE by Kristi Rose
Searching for a new future…
Fortune “Fort” Besingame left ranch life years ago, joining the Navy to escape the shame of his father’s gambling addiction and the enormity of his losing the ranch on a bet. Now Fort has returned to Wyoming, to his mother’s ranch in hopes to start a new life. A former Military Police, he wants to run for Sheriff… but convincing the townsfolk Fort intends to put down roots in the small community is going to take more than words. He needs a bride.
Running from the past…
Cori Walters realizes she will never become the photographer she dreams of being in the town where her father’s – former mayor turned cattle rustler – legacy taints everything she attempts to accomplish. When her friend offers her a temporary job posing as a fiancé, Cori decides going to Wyoming might be just the new start she needs. Until she realizes her pretend groom-to-be is someone she knows from high school… And hates her.
Somehow Fort and Cori have to put aside their family differences long enough to get Fort elected.
If they don’t kill each other – or fall in love. AMAZON 4 STARS
This book was emotional and quirky too. I liked both of the main characters. And as much as they might hate it in the beginning they did have at least a couple of things in common. A desire to be respected and at least one irresponsible parent who caused them to take on problems at such an incredibly young age. They also both had good moral fiber because it would have been so much easier to just skip out and leave the messes to others.
I liked that we got to read BOTH of the main characters P.O.V. It drew me, the reader in even faster. I could sympathize with both. There is also humor in their story too. Some of their conversations made me smile, in fact they were hilarious! Cori was tiny but fierce. A couple of things that made me smile was Fort's observations about Cori. That she always had a "challenge face." Between her high energy and that "face" she was often exhausting. The other smile worthy thought was that he never saw her coming. True in more ways than one.
What a friend they had in Sabrina. No, seriously I mean that.
Deke was quite a surprise too, he and Fort butted heads big time and made for an interesting twist to the story.
It was an interesting journey to a H.E.A. for Cori and Fort, but they do make it there as they solve some other mysteries along the way. There will be plenty of drama and it won't all be coming just from Cori and Fort.
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
