BOOK REVIEW: A MATTER OF HEART

Jessica is beautiful, wealthy and speaks in a blunt manner.  She's a spoiled, pampered, princess.  But things are changing in Jessica, she's not sure what she wants but she wants something different than what she has been living.  The man everyone else thought she would/should marry; marries someone else.  There is a lot of life changes coming and two totally different men enter the picture.

This book starts up slowly;  part of the story is the journey that Jessica takes as she realizes how selfish she has been.  Everyone is getting married and having babies,  Jessica is still trying to figure out what she wants but she slowly begins to try to change because she doesn't like what she has become. Austin Todd is one of the men unwillingly attracted to Jessica, he never wanted to love again.  He still is drawn to her just the same.  Harrison Gable is another man (a lawyer) who wants her but doesn't really know her like he thinks he does.  There are several mysterious problems going on that need to be uncovered and Austin is ready to help with his Secret Service/Rangers experience.
My thinking is that some of the story is somewhat predictable but I enjoyed the people and the how of where they got where they were going.

There is frequent references to God, scripture and God's guidance in this book.  Some may not like reading about that  but in my view the author did a good job in the way she told the story.

Special thanks to those who created the cover for the paperback; its really attractive.

I received a FREE copy of this novel from Bethany House Publishers as part of their book review program, and I am under no obligation to write a positive review. (Baker Publishing Group/ Bethany House)
