BOOK REVIEW- BODYGUARD: Outrageous\Riley by Lori Foster

Bodyguard: Outrageous\Riley (NYT& USA Today Bestselling Author) by [Foster, Lori]
Judd Sanders couldn't believe it when the beautiful, wide-eyed woman he rescued from some drunk hoodlums started poking her gorgeous little nose into his business. She was obviously a menace to herself—not to mention to his libido. Worse, she'd blow his cover. For little did Emily Cooper know that Judd was really a cop—whose cover left him a little too "uncovered" for his liking….

Regina Foxworth has no clue why an unknown assailant is out to get a small-town reporter like her. Or why the police won't take her concerns seriously. So Regina gets a guard dog—make that a four-pound "guard" Chihuahua!—and signs up for self-defense classes. But defending herself is the last thing on her mind when sexy instructor Riley Moore has her pinned to the mat.  AMAZON  4 STARS

Outrageous
While I liked both of  the main characters and the unusual undercover job Judd had it just didn't have the depth that I would have liked.  It's hard to put my finger on exactly how to explain it but it felt lacking in some ways.
It will eventually heat up with sex between the 2 M.C.'s and it's not just sex.  There is caring on both sides but also Judd is trying to keep her from getting hurt because of his uncover work.
At one point towards the end of the book, she did something so stupid I almost wrote how dumb can you get?  She was so over her head. But things do work out though and there is a H.E.A.

I will probably give this a 3.5 Stars on Amazon.

RILEY-
I liked this book and it's main characters.  Riley is way ahead when it comes to his attraction and plans when it comes to Regina.  He affectionately calls her "red" for obvious reasons. And she's been on his radar for some time now.  But he is taking things slower so that he doesn't scare her off.
He's been deeply hurt by a woman before but he recognizes how honorable, sweet and caring that Regina is.  He is tender, protective and possessive about her and is hoping that she will see how great that they would be together.
I liked the dual P.O.V.'s and how Regina tried to deny her attraction to Riley.
There is action as well as romance in this story because there is someone stalking her.
Adding to the enjoyment is the antics of , "Butch"

Any H.E.A.?  Yes and it was well done
"
Overall, I liked the 2nd Book ''Riley'' the best.

BOOK REVIEW- SAVING THE SHEIKH by Ruth Cardello

Saving the Sheikh (Book 4) (Legacy Collection) by [Cardello, Ruth]
Book 4 of the Legacy Collection
Rachid bin Amir al Hantan is fighting for the sovereignty of his small country. He needs to find some powerful allies - and fast. Attending the wedding of Dominic Corisi is as much about reconnecting with old friends as it is about celebrating nuptials. The last thing he needs right now is the distraction of a woman.

Zhang Yajun is a self-made billionaire who can’t believe she accepted her friend’s dare to kiss Sheikh Rachid before the end of the wedding.

When impulsive words lead to even more impulsive actions, these two will discover that sometimes the last thing you were looking for is the one thing that can save you.   AMAZON  3.5 stars

Although this a book that I wanted to read for some time now, I was somewhat disappointed when I finally got a chance to read it.   I did like both of the main characters but still ended up feeling like the story was somewhat shallow and at times predictable.  There will be some hot scenes between Zhang and Rachid before they finally get their H.E.A.
I did like that Zhang observed that she had often to walk between 2 different cultures so what was one more?  That walking between 2 different cultures was also something that Rachid was very familiar with.  He often felt like an outsider even when he is in his own country.

BOOK REVIEW- THE COWBOY AND THE KID by Annie McAllister

The Cowboy and the Kid (Tanner Brothers Book 4) by [McAllister, Anne]

Having a father is a big responsibility.
And finding him a wife is a challenge eight-year-old Becky Jones takes seriously. Ex-rodeo cowboy Taggart Jones is adamant. No marriage. Been there. Done that.

Not even if Becky's dream candidate is her beautiful, blonde teacher, Felicity Albright, who knows about barrettes, patching up scrapes, and hates carrots as much as his daughter. Taggart’s still not interested. Much.

What's a daughter to do? Becky’s nothing if not ingenious, and she’s determined to convince a stubborn Taggart and a bemused Felicity that they really have met their match.   AMAZON  3.5 STARS

To begin with I liked how the story started out from Becky's point of view of how hard is was to take care of her father.  That made me smile.. a lot!   She was one cute, determined, creative little girl.  Very creative when it came to trying to get her father and her teacher together.
Felicity might be beautiful and at times fragile looking but she was far from that.  She had gumption when she believed in something or someone.  Something that Taggart began to admire even as he was scared spit-less by his attraction to her.   He was running scared because he'd already been married once before and it ended up with him feeling somewhat worthless in that department.  And we got to read the P.O.V.'s from the main characters that gave us a good window into their feelings.
There were other good secondary people in the story too.

BOOK REVIEW- SHADOWS OF THE PAST by Patricia Bradley

Shadows of the Past (Logan Point Book #1): A Novel by [Bradley, Patricia]
While she's stalking the truth . . . someone is stalking her.
Psychology professor and criminal profiler Taylor Martin prides herself on being able to solve any crime, except the one she wants most desperately to solve--the disappearance of her father twenty years ago. When she finally has a lead on his whereabouts, Taylor returns home to Logan Point, Mississippi, to investigate. But as she works to uncover the truth, someone else will do almost anything to keep her from it.

Nick Sinclair pens mystery novels for a living, but the biggest mystery to him is how he can ever get over the death of his wife--a tragedy he believes he could have prevented. Now that his estranged brother is the only family he has left, Nick sets out to find him. But when he crosses paths with Taylor, all he seems to find is trouble.

Join the chase as Taylor and Nick search the murky shadows of the past for the keys to unlocking the present--and moving into a future they never imagined.  AMAZON 4.5 STARS

I really liked this book.   What an intense story.
I liked both of the main characters as well as many of the secondary people too.
Taylor was an exceptionally good profiler, with a different slant on figuring out what prompted abductions and murders.  To dig into the life of the victim to see where their lives connected with the criminal. But one story that constantly pulled at her was her own personal one.  Where was her father and why did he just leave?  Almost everyone just wanted her to leave it alone and move on.  But she couldn't, she needed some answers.
Nick has had his share of grief and his more current one was trying to find his brother Scott.  He had lost contact several years ago but now his brother was in trouble.  And it was more than just the alcohol addiction.  Way more serious.
There is plenty of action to keep the reader interested.  And there are no cliffhangers.
Faith is a part of the story without being overbearing to non-believers.  That's just the way I see it.

It was a really good story.

BOOK REVIEW- WYOMING TRYST by Charlene Whitman

Two ranching tycoons. A decades-old feud. A sheriff bent on ridding the town of lawlessness . . .
In the midst of the trouble brewing in Laramie City in 1878, Julia Carson yearns to be free of her parents’ smothering and wonders whether she’ll ever find a man worthy to love in such a violent town rife with outlaws.
But when Robert Morrison sneaks onto her ranch the night of her sixteenth birthday party, Cupid shoots his arrows straight and true. Aware that their courtship would be anathema to their fathers, who are sworn enemies, Robert and Julia arrange a tryst.
Yet, their clandestine dalliance does not go unnoticed, and forces seek to destroy what little hope their romance has to bloom. The star-crossed lovers face heartache and danger as violence erupts. When all hope is lost, Joseph Tuttle, the new doctor at the penitentiary, is given a letter and a glass vial from Cheyenne medicine woman Sarah Banks.
The way of escape poses deadly dangers, but it is the only way for Robert and Julia to be together. It will take the greatest measure of faith and courage to come through unscathed, but love always conquers fear.  AMAZON 4 STARS

This book has a lot of action, good main characters, and a few different people who are plotting their own brand of  evil.
The feud between the two families is so volatile and few know what really started it all.
There is also another part of the story that involves Joseph Tuttle and the penitentiary.  I really don't like books  that are about prison so I did hesitate at getting this book because of that.  And you do get the feel of how horrible it was back then.  It was pretty desperate and hopeless even for those convicted of petty crimes. It also ended up being a crucial part of the story.  Joseph also was a really good character in the book too.  He was a god-fearing man of faith although there were going to be times he was going to feel that faith challenged.
It was amazing how many people were working so hard against the two young people in love.  They even used some of their insecurities against them.  But through it all, God was working in the background through other people.  Not everyone was working against them, there were people who were fighting for them.  That also included another interesting person, Catherine Povey.  We mainly get to know about her because of her fight for justice.  We really don't know much more about her personally except she has a very ill husband who once was very important in government.
It was nice to re-visit with Eli, who I had read about in another one of the author's books.  His mother Sarah Banks never physically showed up in the story.  But her influence is definitely felt.
Be prepared for some surprises and twists to the story before Robert and Julia get their H.E.A.  It's going to be a rough ride.

I received an ARC  of this book and this is my honest opinion of it.
