A dollhouse shouldn’t hold secrets. But in Ashford Peaks, one may hold a motive for murder.
When baker Sam Baker caters the town’s annual miniature expo, she expects frosted cookies—not a replica of a house tied to a cold missing person case. The show’s star exhibitor is found dead beside her display, and while the police suggest natural causes, someone has tampered with the scene. A doll resembling the victim appears in the house—unnaturally posed at the base of the stairs.
Then a second doll appears, facedown on the cobblestone path with red paint streaked across its back.
This one looks exactly like Sam.
With her loyal corgi Diggie, sharp-witted friend Hazel, and gossipy sidekick Lily, Sam digs into a mystery layered in secrets and scale. Carla, a bitter vendor, had her work stolen before. Holden, a smug blogger, may be rewriting more than just history.
As the dollhouse changes overnight, Sam must solve the mystery before she becomes its next replica.
Because in this game, the smallest details cut the deepest.
MY REVIEW- a good story. 4 stars
I'm a first time reader of this story and I liked it. The miniature house information was well written as was the history behind the houses and the history of the woman that was killed. Way more to that part of the story than expected. Sam and Diggy were great and so was Hazel and Lily. There are a couple of smarmy men that Sam didn't trust and who I also didn't trust either. Great surprise at the end !
