Spirit Fighter by Jerel Law is a story of a family that has secrets that aren't your ordinary, run of the mill secrets. The story follows Jonah Stone and his average life, average family and his main concern of school, bullies and his passion for basketball try-outs. Average. UNTIL his mother is suddenly kidnapped by fallen angels and the strange things that had begun to happen to him, demand some explanations. This is the beginning of a fast paced journey to rescue his mother. Prayer, angels, natural and the supernatural weave together to make an interesting look into the supernatural that surrounds us. Although written as fiction; it isn't afraid to use real Biblical principles.
I found this book to be a charming story with well written characters that you cared about; because the author drew you in by his filling in personalities of each person early on. The explanation of scripture was refreshing although I know some people will probably be put off by this for their children. What a great opportunity to use it as a base to start and continue a discussion on the subject of faith. I see it as a great opening to talk to children and grandchildren about spiritual matters in a way that could be more interesting to them; more current. Jonah Stone did use different Bible stories in his battle against evil. I'm looking forward to Book 2 that's coming out in the Fall. Fire Prophet, sounds like it could be another good read.
I received this book free from the publisher through the Book
