From Blah to Awe: Shaking Up a Boring Faith
by Jenna Lucado Bishop
This book has been written to have you look at your hunger and thirst levels for God in your every day life. The author also brings up questions so that you can see where you have put a distance between yourself and God. She shows that just maybe you’re bored not with God but bored with HOW you know Him. Because of these questions, she also has included a personal journal of sorts where you can answer the questions as they are asked. Also, there are stories of real-life people and their walk with God and some of the ways they have experienced a closeness to God or re-charged their walk. These stories don’t dominate the book because there is also solid, easy to understand Bible teaching and scriptures.
I really liked the conversational style that the writer used. Though it is written for a
much younger reader; middle to high school to young woman; its a great refreshing read for those of us are older. I’m in my 60’s and wish it had been around when I was a pre-teen. I also like how easy it would be to give to a brand new believer because it is presented in such an easy way to relate to. A great book to give to any of my grand-daughters as they get a little older so that they can understand how precious they are to us and God. Many age groups would benefit from this book!
