MY REVIEW- AWESOME 5 STARS- EXCELLENT

This is the first time I have read anything in this series and it was EXCELLENT.  The people, the fear, the almost prophetic picture of what it would be without power, food and the ability to protect oneself. Often kind of scary but also great connections with people when there were beginning to be established. It left me wanting to read more about the main character, her daughters, the lost son, and her potential love interest (there definitely was a friendship established there). Oh, and yes there was a dangerous man that was pursuing her, he's being outed and I want to see how his punishments get carried out. Great clean, Christian story !

FREE BKFUNNEL/ The Don's Forbidden Claim BY ELENA STEEL

     Book Cover

I knew Luca DeLuca was trouble the moment he walked in - tall, dangerous, and radiating lethal heat.

My father’s enforcer, a lethal shadow in a world ruled by blood and violence. I should’ve walked away.

Instead, I let him touch me.

Now I’m his. Stolen, claimed, caged. And yet, every time he calls me mine, my body betrays me.

He’s dangerous, obsessive, and sinfully irresistible. I should hate him. I want to hate him.

But when his hands are on me, I forget everything… except how badly I want more.

His touch is electric. Hot enough to scorch, hard enough to leave a mark.

The Don’s Forbidden Claim is a dark, explosive Enemies to Lovers Kidnapping Mafia Romance packed with obsession, danger, and filthy desire.

No cheating, no cliffy, just 100% HEA.

    MY REVIEW- 4 STARS

It was everything that was promised that it would be. It was also a inst-attraction although only Luca acted upon it at first. Later, she, Adriana, becomes just as needy, and ruthless about needing sex with Luca.  There's a LOT of sex in the story, which is a bit more than I wanted.

The author, Elena Steele, delivered on everything, well written though short.  Her bio, at the end of the book showed more about her. I liked that.

BOOKSPROUT/Review by Jul 26, 2025/Pretending with my Ex's Silver Fox Dad The Ashford Landing Collection by Kyra Lang

Pretending with my Ex's Silver Fox Dad Novel

Review on at least one : Amazon

I thought dating Kyle was my worst mistake—

    until I met his father.

James Weston is older, colder, maddeningly gorgeous… and now my fake fiancé, thanks to a mutually selfish deal.

He’s Manhattan’s saltiest food critic. I’m the small-town chef with something to prove.

We’re supposed to play nice, pose for pictures, and simmer down after one last publicity stunt.

Instead? We’re bickering over cumin, burning through bedsheets, and crossing every line we swore we wouldn’t.

    He’s infuriating. He’s intoxicating.

And he sees me in a way no one ever has.

But while he’s busy falling for the fiction…

I’m hiding the one truth that could ruin everything: I’m pregnant with his baby.

And if I don’t come clean soon?

This fake fiancé thing might turn into real heartbreak—with a side of custody.

MY REVIEW- TITLED:  10+ Keeper Story

Her ex, Kyle was an insensitive, jerk !  He's got a lot to learn. And it will surprise you with how many ways he learns better !!! There's one area that Kyle and James both have to grow in and it's a dozy.

Sage is a hard working, fun girl that made me smile as did Vicky, Talia, Jules Aaron and Nicky. Nicky is the friend who owns a Indie bookstore and became an instant friend when Sage hit the area ! She began calling Sage, Spice Rack at their first meeting on Sage's moving in day. That cracked me up  It also cracked me up when Sage got  so angry after her first encounter with James. And it was mentioned that she stormed into the walk in for a good ten seconds of "profanity therapy". I got to keep that phrase, lol. All of her workers became friends who had her back and it took her awhile to realize that not only her closes friends had her back but the whole town too ! In the beginning, James took her for a hick country girl with no real talent. That he'd been sent on a wasted trip by his editor Patrick an overly cheerful, overachiever who .was clueless about boundaries, feelings and everything else. He was only concerned with the cheapest, fastest buck. No matter what !!! It was that guys idea to force them into a fake relationship, to pretend to be in love just for ratings ! And the articles in Palate/Vignette plays a big part in this story. James worked there but wasn't sure how much longer he could deal with Patrick and this magazine and Patrick's threats and bullying. . Patrick's also got a startling unwelcome surprise waiting for him too ! Well done, James, well done !

Olivia is his ride or die friend, who only wants to be that ! She was sure she couldn't handle a love relationship with unfeeling James.  He begins to face some painful truths and wants to change.

Hilarious ! And "Hormonal Humus" is just one of the hilarious names of food that was posted to the restaurant menu. Loved that !

I loved Sage and James together through the fights,  the times that Sage one upped James, the angst when they failed and those two pink lines showing up.

By the way, the humor was off-the charts excellent and I ADORED that !!!

Did I like the ending? I LOVED it and the Epilogue was the best. This book is a keeper, for sure !!!

I read this book through Booksprout and this is how I feel about this book !

FREE BKFUNNEL/Staking His Claim BY JENNIFER JANSEN

     Book Cover

Hello fellow readers and thank you for downloading Staking His Claim. Writing this novella was the most fun I've ever had while writing! I hope you enjoy it and please leave a short review - it would mean a lot to me.

Passion ignites and secrets simmer in Staking HIs Claim—a sultry, emotionally charged romance where a powerful Spanish billionaire confronts the woman who walked away... and the pregnancy she never told him about. Set against the backdrop of sun-drenched Spain, and dreary London, this is a story of second chances, undeniable chemistry, and a love that refuses to be forgotten.

MY REVIEW- A well written, emotional lovers story

I really liked this book. It was almost like a short story to me because I flew right through it and loved the ending. Madeline starts out running away to her shabby flat in London. Emotional.  A home that her dead mother wanted her to have.  Her Spanish lover,  Santino doesn't leave her alone for long though. He wants answers and this tough Business man while tender with her, will be tough with her to get what he wants from her, answers. He's got a lot of questions and it's going to be a while until he gets those, because she's suddenly developed a back bone. Which surprises him because she's always been so sweet to him. Compliant. Leads to interesting confusions.

DONE ON Jul 23, 2025/BK SPROUT/The Billionaire’s Convenient Vow BY NORA DANIELS

     AMAZON LINK Novella

I married my best friend’s brother to save the inn…
Now I’m living with a grumpy billionaire I swore I hated—

A cocky billionaire with a killer smirk and zero heart.

He’s my best friend’s older brother.
The one I swore I’d never touch.

Now he wants to “save” the inn—with a fake marriage.
One month. One ring. One shared bed.

Living with him is a nightmare.
    We fight. We flirt.
Then he pins me to the wall and possesses me like he owns me.

He’s bossy, maddening, and way too good at making me melt.
But then he starts fixing broken things… including me.

    He remembers my tea order.
    Defends me in council meetings.
    Touches me like I’m his.

And suddenly, I want the lie to be real.

    Description

They solved a murder before prom—now they’re retired, nosy as ever, and dead set on cracking one last case before someone signs them up for chair yoga and a senior discount.

When Emma Lynn Whitmore returns to her childhood home in Savannah after losing her husband, she expects peace, maybe a little porch-sitting—not a fifty-year-old mystery clawing its way out of the attic. A faded photograph, a broken promise, and a name no one’s dared mention in decades all point to one thing: Delilah didn’t run away. She vanished.

Teaming up with her old high school partners-in-crime-solving—sharp-tongued Margaret and quietly brilliant Graham—Emma Lynn dives headfirst into a Southern tangle of missing land deeds, whispered family names, and secrets buried deeper than a Lowcountry grave.

Armed with charm, determination, and a collective disregard for their doctor’s advice, the trio sets out to finish what Delilah started—no matter who’s still trying to keep it buried.

Perfect for fans of cozy mysteries with heart, Southern sass, and sleuths who’ve traded curfews for reading glasses—but haven’t lost their taste for trouble.

    advance praise:

A beautifully written Southern mystery with heart, humor, and just the right touch of haunt. Emma Lynn and her friends are the kind of sleuths you’ll want to follow through every shadowy secret.

    MY REVIEW-

      And super smart Graham-

MY REVIEW- 5 STARS TITLE- INTENSE Drama with Sass

I really liked this story that had sassy southern "charm" and sarcasm.  Emma Lynn was charming, astute, and she noticed things that others didn't. She began to have some prophetic dreams of Delilah that surprise Emma !. That stirred her even more to dig for  the truth.
Emma Lynn, the southern way of saying names down there reminded me of what happens when my husband goes with me "down south." That's right, I'm a Northerner.  But I love the south. I just don't want my name spoken with my middle name included. That's why family don't know what it is.   Lol.

Emma pulls in her sassy, talented friend Margaret, who works in the library and knows how to pull the very information that they need. She's direct and blunt but also caring when it comes to Emma and Graham. Emma's other friend, Graham is Super-smart and compassionate and very easy to like. I almost made the title of this review- "Emma, friends & Murder to be solved."  Because they do. With cunning, cleverness and humor.  I loved that  They weren't going to let the Vanishing of Delilah Grace Hart, go quietly into the night.
Delilah Hart and her daughter Eva Hart Simmons, were such sad people in the story. Eva's epileptic son was also stolen from because of all of this. Stolen from and attempts to erase all of them as though they never lived, loved or thrived in any ways at all. They were poor but that's no excuse to what they did to them !  To steal land from them to prosper from it and to kill to keep it ! And the sleuths and Eva just aren't going to put up with it even when things get tough and they do !
Smug, Mason Blake was designed for me to hate and I did ! Him and those who helped him ! There were several surprises about that and I loved that too. They were being watched and being sent secret notes and warning. Short but threatening... saying in one form or another, "Stop digging."
On a finally note, although they were SO MANY witty things spoken and written in this story, but I do have a favorite. When hysterically but oh so stern, direct, proper, caring Margaret had this said about her by Emma. "If this mysterious messenger thought a few cryptic notes would undo us, he really, really should've read Margaret's Yelp review" I almost fell down laughing ! Had to read it over a few times and giggle.!
There is also a mention of the first book where this group first solved a murder, it was free so I got it.  It's called "Buried Beneath the Ivy" by Veronica Mixon."

I read this book through Netgalley.

ARC/BKFUNNEL/A Poisoned Proposal BY Cass Landri

A public proposal. A poisoned tart. A celebration that ended in chaos.

When a romantic proposal brings the crowd to its feet at The Cozy Crumb’s anniversary party, it should be the sweetest moment of the night. But seconds after the ring appears, the groom-to-be collapses—mid-toast, mid-bite, and very much poisoned. The tart? One of Sam Baker’s own. Now her bakery is shut down, her name splashed across gossip blogs, and her future crumbling faster than overbaked shortbread.

To clear her name, Sam rallies her inner circle: Hazel, all grit and sharp instincts; Lily, the sunny librarian with a mind for messy details; and Diggie, her loyal corgi with a nose for nonsense.

Their suspects? Clara, a once-rising baker with a ruined career, and Jasper King, a rival with charm, secrets, and questionable timing.

As misdirection mounts and timelines blur, Sam realizes someone wanted to hijack more than just the spotlight. And if she doesn’t unmask them soon, her bakery—and her life—might never recover.

MY REVIEW-  5 STARS  title -What's really going on ?

I fell in love with this story  and all the people and Doggie too ! Great mystery and great dialogues !   I'd have to say that this is my favorite story by this author,

     so far !

I'm looking forward to more adventures by this author.  And this town.

    MY REVIEW- OUTSTANDINGLY GOOD

Beautiful, clever, afraid to trust Trixie was someone that I wanted to win so bad. Someone to stand by her because no one ever did. UNTIL.. she met Hugh Tolliver. Someone she never saw coming and was afraid of. Definitely attracted to but she sure wasn't going to trust or lean on HIM or anyone. That never worked out well in the past. Hugh Tolliver was sharp, mean against his enemies and he pretty sure she was an enemy when he spotted her in his casino. BUT he was very intrigued by her almost against his will.  Hugh Tolliver I wanted him to win too ! And then she slowly draws him in almost against her will. She's intrigued and attracted to him too. She doesn't know it at first but he will decide that anyone that tries to hurt her, he will burn to the ground. He does begin to see her strengths, she's small but feisty and SHE will burn her enemies to the ground IF SHE gets the chance. She's planning ! I loved that she was a redhead. I also loved the whip smart, quirky and sassy conversations between Trixie and Hugh. Almost always does seem to start with Trixie. She starts it and often gets the last words too. But Hugh isn't left out of those few funny quips either.  Funny !!! There will also be some hot sex between them too.

The story is so sharply woven in all the best ways. The dangers, their enemies being MANY steps ahead of Trixie and Hugh.  The clever ways that they try and often success in getting ahead of the enemy's plan.  Awesome !

The enemies were so clearly drawn that I could almost see them as well as our hero and heroine.  So well the different settings of the casino and many evil places of business.

Trixie's sister, Molly, is she the innocent victim of the conspiracy or not? Held hostage or the leader of the gang? Good questions and great resolutions. I cried for her and her sister.

Beckett, was he really the good, trusted ally of Hugh's at the casino and his personal life ?He sure seems to be.  I did like him though.

The Epilogue was the best !! Great way to end the story.

A Lady's Guide to Etiquette and Murder (A Countess of Harleigh Mystery Book 1) by Dianne Freeman

  •

In this exciting historical mystery debut set in Victorian England, a wealthy young widow encounters the pleasures—and scandalous pitfalls—of a London social season . . .

Frances Wynn, the American-born Countess of Harleigh, enjoys more freedom as a widow than she did as a wife. With her young daughter in tow, Frances rents a home in Belgravia and prepares to welcome her sister, Lily, arriving from New York—for her first London season.

But no sooner has Frances begun her new life than the Metropolitan police receive an anonymous letter implicating Frances in her husband’s death. Frances assures Inspector Delaney of her innocence, but she’s also keen to keep him from learning the scandalous circumstances of Reggie’s demise. As fate would have it, her dashing new neighbor, George Hazelton, is one of only two other people aware of the full story.

While busy with social engagements on Lily’s behalf, and worrying if Reggie really
was murdered, Frances rallies her wits, a circle of gossips, and the ever-chivalrous Mr. Hazelton to uncover the truth. A killer is in their midst and Frances must unmask the villain before Lily’s season—and their lives—come to a most unseemly end . . .

“This lighthearted debut tale of mystery, love, and a delightful sleuth will leave you wanting more—which is presumably just what Freeman had in mind.” Kirkus Reviews
MY REVIEW-  5 STARS TITLE: It's got it all, romance included
George Hazelton is in love with Frances. She doesn't even realize it or even that's she's romantically attracted to him. Not yet !They are friends. Well, after she stops trying to ignore him because of what happened with her husband. He's in on a dangerous secret and she's not 100% sure that it's safe with him.  Well, he's not only helpful but also funny!  He's great and has quite the sardonic humorous responses to her trying to avoid him. Fiona is George's sister and she was stern, funny, direct in speaking truth, and compassionate too as Frances's best friend.  She also secretly and sometimes not so secretly thinking that George and Frances would make a great couple.
Lily is the sister who is excited about her first season. While Frances has a mix of excitement for her and wariness of her falling for the first charmer who gets her attention.  Fortune hunters are out there and Lily is beautiful and charming herself.  Aunt Hetty shows up with Lily, and she's a great, outrageous and funny addition to the family gathering.
Reggie is a rotter as they would say ! Dying in bed, in their home with his mistress. And that mistress had me turning back and forth trying to figure out IF she could be trusted. Alicia-Stoke-Whitney, Frances and George make for strange bed-fellows, who don't actually share a bed.  But they do share trying to escape the investigations that keep mysteriously cropping up. Rose is someone that Frances will also protect at all costs. She might have ended up hating Reggie at the end of their marriage but loved the daughter that they produced.
I enjoyed it all, well except for that rather LONG title.  Made for a lot of typing and looking up the spelling of, Etiquette. But it does get the attention !
I got to read a sneak peek into : A Newlywed Guide to Fortune and Murder. by Diane Freeman.  Set in the 1900's.
Graham is Reggie's equally evil brother who causes Frances MANY problems as well. So does Graham's wife, they both just scheme to get more of her money.

    •
    • Both Thane in his rough cowboy ways and Jemma in her reserved lady like behaviors were a delight. And both the niece and nephew were too ! The little girl was proving to be more than a lady in training but also a fearless little handful I loved that. And the overly serious nephew beginning to come out of his shell caused by the death of his mother and father was also a delight to watch.
    • The teasing that Thane put proper Jmma through was funny as was her reactions ! Thane's cowboy crew were helpful even when Emma began to be uppity.  She was never mean but she hated dirt, dust, and just about everything in the beginning. Snakes, wolves you name it ! The kids though loved it on Thane's ranch  and didn't want to go back to England !
    • The angst that developed between Thane and Jemma was interesting to watch as they struggled; often dangerously to stay away from each other.
    • The ending and Epilogue was excellent. Leaving me very satisfied with the story and wanting to read more about Jemma and Thane as a couple.

New York Times bestselling author Ruth Ware proves that she is the “new Agatha Christie” (Air Mail) with this adrenaline-fueled thriller about a woman in a race to clear her name and find her husband’s murderer.

Hired by companies to break into buildings and hack security systems, Jack and her husband, Gabe, are the best penetration specialists in the business. But after a routine assignment goes horribly wrong, Jack arrives home to find her husband dead. To add to her despair, the police are closing in on their suspect—her.

Suddenly on the run and quickly running out of options, Jack must decide who she can trust as she circles closer to the real killer in this unputdownable and heart-pounding mystery that combines
Mr. and Mrs. Smith with The Fugitive from an author whose “propulsive prose keeps readers on the hook and refuses to let anyone off until all has been revealed” (Shelf Awareness).

MY REVIEW-Tight-Wire Balancing Act 10+ STARS

Tense, Loving And Funny right from the start.  I loved both Gabe and Jack and their banter while on the job was adorable. And after she found Gabe dead, his encouraging words from time to time came up in her memories just like his voice used to speak in her ears while on jobs. It often was the only thing keeping her going. Of course her sister, Hel as she called her was ALWAYS there for her, no matter what.  I enjoyed her characters so much too !!
I hated the fact that Gabe was dead when Jack got home, even though I knew it was coming.  But I just couldn't let this story go !!  It also did bring tears to my eyes at times, so it really did stir the emotions too !
Jack's friend Cole was such an interesting person when he showed up in the story. After awhile though the author had me questioning, "Was he really a trustworthy guy?"  Ruth Ware had me swaying between yes and no,so often !
And the police that were after her were brutal. Especially the woman detective who was staunchly convince that Jack was guilty.  Beautifully, written, described as smart. deceptive and so wrong ! Jack's ex was someone that Jack was deathly afraid of although she hated to admit it and stood up against him as much as she could and also avoided him as much as she could.  Being a corrupt cop he had more power than he ever should have had.
I loved the twists and turns at the end. A surprise also awaits the reader and several of the baddies as well.
I can clearly see why this author is an best-selling author !  Now I want to read more.
I read this book through the Hoopla app and was thankful to be able get a hold of it !

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Chloe Lovelace’s new ice cream flavor, Summer Crush, was supposed to stir romance, not suspicion. But when a visiting relationship coach dies after sampling the magical treat, all signs point to Chloe’s beloved Sweetheart Creamery. With her shop shuttered and her reputation on the line, Chloe has no choice but to investigate.

Luckily, she’s not alone. Leo and Luna, Quillhaven’s talking Siamese cats, have more than sharp claws. They’ve got sharp magical instincts. With Leo sniffing out lies and Luna sensing emotional echoes, the ageless sibling sleuths are determined to help Chloe crack the case.

Joining their efforts is Jonathan Mann, a former magical detective who comes with a mysterious past and a glowing orb sidekick who sees and intuits all.

As the investigation heats up, so does an unexpected attraction between Chloe and Jonathan. Their connection might just survive the summer, but they need to survive first.

Can Chloe clear her name before her business—and summer romance—melts away?

my review- Titled: 10 delicious scoops of excellence

I've been 'following Leo and Luna" everywhere. I really like those two intuitive, talking magic cats !  And Chloe Lovelace came in a fast second. She was awesome. And so was the many multi-magic people of this quaint, talented town of Quillhaven. They were normal but with an added twist of magic to round them out.  Non-threatening for the most part but most were extremely helpful wanting to only help others.

The story behind the naming Chloe's magic ice cream shop was not only sweet but also explained a lot.  I really liked Jonathan Mann, the mysterious former detective and I adored the fact that he was written as part Native American !  The author did a great job of describing the details of each person's character and appearance. SO much so that I could actually almost "see" them." Leo and Luna make a new friend. Jonathan's "friend'' that went with him everywhere, the glowing orb oddly named "Indi"

It was a clean, clever murder mystery with the sparks of love included. Also a couple of long suffering characters like Noah the sheriff who was fair but also skeptical.  He was one of the two people in the town who suffered Leo and Luna's presence and meddling. Funny. Their "owner" Annie adored them.

The murder gets solved after several red herrings that were necessary to the story as was a few repeated parts of the story because of the multiple points of views and conferences with people trying to find out the truth ! And they all do ! Great endings and beginnings.

MY REVIEW- 5 STARS: Titled:  GIVE ME MORE Stories

Hilarious, charming story with great people in it and one STRANGE dog named Roc who kept things interesting ! I liked the new hires to the newspaper and found them charming and competent. Barbara was more than competent and likeable. Chief of Police, Arni Korhonen is competent but sure doesn't like getting any civilian help. Loved Henry. Zora the editor I loved right off the bat.
Good conclusion to the story but it also left me wanting more of this team.

Talking about this book? Use #Sunburned #NetGalley.

St. Barth’s has a murder rate of zero. But that’s about to change.

“Utterly delectable and addicting . . . Sunburned is what happens when Agatha Christie meets a thoroughly modern, sexy sensibility.”—Ashley Winstead, USA Today bestselling author of Midnight Is the Darkest Hour

When Audrey Collet’s ex Tyson calls, threatening to expose the skeletons in her closet unless she helps him figure out who is blackmailing him, she wants nothing more than to refuse. Though their relationship ended over a decade ago, the scars are deep. And since his tech company made him a billionaire, he’s become more than a little eccentric . . . and paranoid.

But a foot has washed ashore in the Everglades—that’s right, an actual human foot, encased in an Air Jordan—and Tyson is quick to remind Audrey that it’s one whose long-dead owner they both have a connection to. A connection that could prove problematic, if it got out.

Audrey reluctantly agrees to meet Tyson at his home on the swanky Caribbean island of St. Barth’s to help him figure out who in his entourage is extorting him and what they know about the secrets he and Audrey share. Once there, she realizes that each person staying at Tyson’s lavish estate has a reason to wish him harm. Could the culprit be the gorgeous Belgian wife whose wings he’s clipped? The celebrity business partner he’s essentially holding hostage? The older brother who’s always been in his shadow? Or the sexy French butler he seems to trust more than he should?

Audrey has only just scratched the surface of what’s going on behind closed doors when Tyson’s birthday dive turns deadly, and she realizes that one of the seven people trapped on his yacht with her is not just a blackmailer but a murderer. If Audrey can’t catch the killer in time, she might become the next victim.

MY REVIEW- 10 STARS (my title) Best story ever, loved all of it

Tyson Dale, what a creepy billionaire, charming but oh so self serving. Even from the beginning when he was charming Audrey and then just shrugging off the fact that he was just using her. He might have loved her in his own way at first but his dark evil ways just kept on growing. It was no surprise when it was said that EVERYONE HATED him. And wanted to kill him at one time or another.  It kept things interesting to see who actually gets murdered and then how the list of murderers keeps getting increased and then increased !!! Clever story telling !  And what happened to Ian Kelley? The tensions, and dangers were off the chart great ! So was the sarcasm which I really enjoyed a lot. And the code word "Sunburned'? So clever and sure explained the title.

Audrey Collet was the best and so was her business partner and friend Rosa !! Discovery agent was an interesting choice of career fo Audrey but she was skilled and good at her job.   She's going to have to be. Her two ten year old sons, Alexander and  Benjamin (Benji) show up briefly  and are mentioned from time to time.Tyson's brother Cody wasn't exempt and his girlfriend Jennifer had me scratching my head  a lot.   Whose side are they on? What are their true motives for being there? And that sexy butler Laurent was one of the BIGGEST mysteries. One that I really enjoyed.  Tyson blackmailed everyone. He stole from everyone and kept their secrets and held over their heads so they HAD to do what he wanted them to do.

Astounding surprises at the end.  And I especially loved the Epilogue !

I loved this story that I got through Netgalley !

MY REVIEW- 5 STARS TITLED: Coaches fight to love

    Coaches fight to love.
This was a great story with a lot of humor and fight and some really great comebacks when it came to conversations and  humorous plans of revenge against each other .
I laughed a lot throughout this book. A few tears too !
I loved Emily and her counselor. There was quite a few surprises about that. Also her assistant Jessie was a hoot and plays a semi-reliable spy for her against her adversary Adrian Zayne! Who turns out to be a strange mix of good and bad. He was clever I will give him that !
I loved how the story ended !
I loved this author and will be reading and reviewing more of her books in the future.

But she’s the one I can’t shut out, and I’m breaking every rule to make her mine.

Dr. Nina Erwin is the Acers’ new sports psychologist.
All curves and attitude, she’s too good at reading what I
    don’t say.

    I give her nothing.
    She doesn’t flinch.

She calls me out. I shut her down.
And still…she gets under my skin.

MY REVIEW-5 STARS "Are Alex & Nina really all that different ?''

Alex was a "dick" but a great goalie with a big chip on his shoulder. But Coach Stephens isn't going to let him keep messing up with the hockey team as much as he personally liked the angry goalie.  So he makes sure that Nina, the unofficial Attitude Adjustment Whisper is sent in and she WON'T stand for any guff either. She's tough, smart and has challenges of her own. I loved her ! Immediately !  Alex and the other 5 players not so much, at first. They think she is a Barbie Joke until she wipes the smiles off their face the minute she steps in their room !!!

Nina's friend Patti is a definite boost in the family and a cheerleader for Nina to live a more balanced, courageous life like Patti knew Nina could and should ! I hated Karen from HR but loved the phrasing, "Karen from HR." I thought that was funny and there are other hilarious moments in the story.  As well as the challenges and the romance that tries to develop between Alex and Nina after that first great but disastrous kiss between them ! After awhile they discover that they DO have SOME similarities in their life, which kind of surprises them.  Nina has some interesting techniques that she shared with Alex and the team and they were helpful. Funny at times, disastrously funny at other times. and I enjoyed reading about the team using the Tapping Technique to reduce stress and clear their focus.

Outstanding ending which I adored !

ALREADY LEFT REVIEW: Legacy defined with Truth, Love and Teamwork. A keeper

ALEX CHADWICK  and Nina Erwin wow what a dynamite couple. At first they didn't seem to have very much in common except for her to confront him and him to resist her truths about his hockey and his emotions. She basically tells him that he's blocking both on the field and off. Nina knows right off the bat that he's going to be her biggest challenge of this team and isn't shy to say so to those who need to hear it ! Then, there begins to be a sharing between the two of what some of their challenges and fears have been in life. They begin to put themselves out there. Even for a non-hockey person, they should really be able to enjoy and love this story. It's about team work and love !
Detroit now there is someplace that I know a little bit about and have always enjoyed watching the Detroit Pistons on TV.

The story also included some great tension and anxiety tips that I think we could all use. All presented in humorous and relatable ways. Mental toughness presented in a delightful way. There is plenty of humor included in the story with some smart snark which I always enjoy. Not mean or cruel but truthful and funny !
The romance was quietly sizzling in its swinging back and forth when it comes to will Nina choose Alex or not?  Is she a coward or will she practice what she preaches ?
I had many favorite sayings in the book but my favorite was when an old trusted professor said this : "You'll do the right thing. You always do." Even when it scares the hell out of you ."
I also want to remember how Legacy was defined in the book, as not the title that you leave behind but  its the people who whisper your name when you're not in the room. Not because you were in charge, but because you made them better. People make a Legacy not titles or plaques. Hard work doesn't come with a plaque. Powerful truths !  I'm keeping this story to re-read again and again !

There is also a clever except of "My Pucked up Silver Fox" at the end of the book .

book cover for What Fury BringsThere's a shortage of men in the kingdom of Amarra. After a failed rebellion against the matriarchy, most noblemen in the country are dead. Now the women of Amarra must obtain their husbands (should they want one) by kidnapping them from other kingdoms.

Olerra, a warrior princess vying for the throne, is determined to prove her worth by kidnapping a husband. And not just any husband. To outmaneuver her treacherous cousin, she needs the best. Fortunately, the second-born prince of their greatest enemy is widely known for both his looks and his sweet, docile temperament. He's the perfect choice to secure her claim to the throne.

Sanos, heir to the Kingdom of Brutus, has nothing but contempt for the idea of a society run by women. Trained from birth to fight, lead, and follow in his father's overbearing footsteps, his path has always been set. Until he takes his younger brother's place in a drunken prank and finds himself kidnapped, carted off to the Amarran Palace, and informed that he is to become the husband of Queen Potential Olerra. Sanos needs to escape before anyone learns his real identity, but the more he gets to know his captor, the less sure he is of what he truly wants.

    A Note From the Publisher

Please note that this is an adult romantasy and contains scenes of graphic sexual content, graphic language, and graphic violence. See the author's note linked below for full list of potential trigger warnings.

    MY REVIEW NOTES-

I smiled at the dedication at the front of the book. I am glad that it came with Trigger Warnings.
But I also liked that the author said she was flipping  the script on men who tried to make her Less.  She also mentioned in the intro that it was her fury that started the whole book. Very interesting !  There is also a chart with Amarran Terminology in the front of the book too.

This was an astoundingly great book ! Yes, there was one deserved but gruesome scene that made me wince but the rest of the story was great ! Even with all the WEIRD sexes and couplings that are not something that I usually read. The tension between Olerra, a warrior princess vying for the throne and the kidnapped Prince Sanos  was off the charts awesome ! I loved how the author admitted in the intro about a lot of her rage was worked out through this very book.  Rage at being made invisible, to look less than, to be underpaid for great books just because of her gender. Being a woman I totally got it and it came through in this book.  In the beginning they each had utter contempt for each other and their respective kingdoms. It made me wonder how on earth that would ever work out without either one of them getting killed? And at times its a close one because both of them had enemies in the her compound.  Sanos was fighting hard his attraction to Olerra and she just wanted to break him to show her power and become the head of the kingdom to bring about good change. I hated her cousin who turned out to be evil more evil than originally thought. Olerra was well aware that her cousin wanted to kill her, but still this was her cousin who once loved her !  Their Queen was in Olerra's corner but there was only  so much that she could do for her.
There is tenderness in this story, and near deaths, sacrifices that are painful but also life changing.
The ending was Spectacular and VERY satisfying. I would read it again !

BOOKSprout/ MURDER AT STARFALL LAKE-A QUILLHVEN MAGICAL COZY MYSTERY BY TESSA SILVER

     Murder at Starfall Lake

When the lake speaks, secrets rise to the surface...

Olympic silver medalist Diana Waverly thought a summer at Starfall Lake would be the perfect break—peaceful waters, fun swimming lessons, and zero drama. But when a flashy real estate developer takes an unexpected tumble off his stranded boat and turns up dead, her plans get swept away into a dangerous investigation.

Quillhaven is buzzing with gossip, and the list of suspects is longer than a summer day. There are jealous exes, shady business rivals, an angry boss, and maybe even a magical motive or two.

As she digs deeper, Diana discovers an unexpected connection to the lake itself – a magical bond that awakens powers she didn’t know she possessed. With two mysterious talking Siamese cats as wisecracking allies, a handsome reporter who sees beyond her Olympic fame, and a bookshop owner guarding ancient secrets, Diana must unravel the mystery before the killer strikes again.

But Starfall Lake holds deeper magic than anyone realizes. As the summer solstice approaches and celestial forces align, Diana must choose between the life she left behind and the magical community that's claiming her heart.

A magical cozy mystery that’s full of cozy cabins, curious cats, and a mystery that’s anything but shallow.

MY REVIEW- TITLE: MYSTERY OF THE LAKE AND LOVE

I loved this charming mysterious, dangerous at time story.  Diana, great ! Check ! Luna and Leo great again ! Double check !! The mystery of lake kept me really going, starting off first with that mysterious murder ! The Lake knows, it always knows ! Bryce was one nasty piece of work ! Diana's friends were awesome in their support of her and her dreams. I bookmarked many places to read again, it was so good ! Evan Caldwell was quite the surprise!

Leo and Luna head up the Epilogue, which I found humorous and there were a lot of different times were humor was inserted really well.

And Quillhaven. I love that little town.

Top notch story by Ivy Davis in my humble opinion.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
