BOOK REVIEW- MORE PRECIOUS THAN DIAMONDS

“More precious than diamonds” is how God views His daughters—and how popular author Darlene Sala wants women to see themselves. These long-form devotions—always affirming and occasionally challenging—will remind readers of the value God places on all people, but especially women; point them to the resources God offers for women; and urge them, as valuable in God’s sight, to live their lives to their fullest potential. Darlene Sala’s previous books have sold a half million copies—women clearly appreciate her inspiring message, which continues in the brand-new More Precious Than Diamonds.  AMAZON LINK

In some parts this book is a study-walk through finding a diamond that is in rough form (that would be us), then to each step of the process to become the best diamond it can be.  It is filled with scripture as well as personal stories of other people who have gone through pressures and come out a diamond or are still in the process.   There is interesting information about the size of  some of the biggest diamonds found,  and even one rich person  who was able to shovel diamonds because they  had so many.  That alone is kind of mind-blowing in itself.
I really liked the plastic bucket  example of-what is its value?   Hide a diamond in it, now what is its value?  There is more to this explanation, so I won't ruin it by saying more.  There was quite a few different examples abut the different processes in taking a diamond from its rough stages, to its brilliant one.  Some I had never heard of; it looks like the author did their homework when it came to the diamond and its qualities in the hands of a Master.  Something else to place under the category of " I didn't know that"- is the fact that scientists have developed calculations to maximise the brilliance and fire of a diamond.  I knew of course that its no easy job to separate a diamond into different pieces, but with technology they are able to do so much more.  They can recognize that a diamond has many light paths within it that can be used and not just one.  What that means to me  is that there is so much more potential that can be seen by the naked eye.  I hope  I haven't given the impression that this book is only about diamonds, it is so much more.
Throughout this book, the author always bring us back to the reminder of how we are a person of great value.  I was also glad to see that there was a chapter on receiving God's forgiveness.  And probably even sometimes harder part of forgiving themselves.  Another helpful section was also the one called, " The Psalmist's Six-Step Treatment for Recovery".

Something that got my attention was the mention of a little book by Wang Ming Dao called,"A Stone Made Smooth."   It sounds like both this man and his wife had gone through things that we can't even begin to imagine.

I received a copy of this book from Barbour Publishing via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
