Adventures In Saying Yes: A Journey from Fear to Faith

BOOK- ADVENTURES IN SAYING YES- Adventures Await When You Overcome Fear-This is the story of a normal family of five living a very unusual life. The Medearis family has faced Middle Eastern prisons, death threats, being kicked out of a country two times, and war. It hasn't always been easy, but in the midst of it all, the invitation of Jesus to follow and not be afraid has won the day.  But this is more than just their story. It's also a guide to help you step out in bold faith. Whether the call of Jesus for you means international intrigue, giving up all you have for the poor, or simply being the suburban neighbor you were always meant to be, it's time to begin your own adventure! To live a life where fear takes a backseat and God takes the wheel. In the end, of course, there are no promises of an easy life or a path free of troubles. But enormous blessings await those who walk in faith.
It's time to go where Jesus is calling and do what God is doing. Don't put off the adventure he's been saving just for you.  AMAZON LINK

I have to admit that as I began to read this book, it gave me a feeling
of, how do I put this?  Not fear exactly, not suspicion either.  Just a wondering of, is it really wise the way he just seems to just jump into saying Yes?  Then I gave a sigh of relief when he said that he always prays, talks to his wife, and  has a few other trusted, seasoned people pray also.  If no red flags go up, then he continues and says Yes.  Now that is wisdom, and good counsel.
There was one particular statement that the author made, that had me shaking my head and saying Yes to.  " We can either allow ourselves to get stuck in our own rigid expectations- the way  we think everything should go-or we can ask and look for the greater good.   Sometimes the greater good comes in a cauldron of  disappointment."  I'm finding that such a true statement the longer I walk with the Lord.  I also enjoyed the insightful thought that he was working hard, hard , hard for the Lord because that was the way of the Kingdom. He began to realize no, he was doing things the way of the kingdom of Carl.  I just loved how he wrote, so easy to relate to and not afraid to expose his weaknesses.
It wasn't a depressing book though, because he did have victories as well.  He was almost stunned with how things worked out when he said Yes to God.  I liked reading about his adventures.  Another chapter towards the end is called, "You can say no if you want to".   Very good chapter that gives balance and wisdom to the book.  A sort of quick check of using wisdom when considering saying Yes.  It's really more about making sure you ARE hearing Gods instructions.

I received a  copy of this book from Bethany House in exchange for an honest review.
