arc 3-14-Protecting the Heiress: A Fake Engagement Romantic Suspense by Meg Kentman

Protecting the Heiress: A Fake Engagement Romantic Suspense Bksprout

I end up fake-engaged to my bodyguard and breaking every rule I swore I wouldn’t cross.

I’m the heiress to a billion-dollar empire. Inheritance makes enemies ruthless enough to kill.
It’s Gabriel Ward’s job to keep me alive.

He’s disciplined, lethal, and infuriatingly controlled.

He touches my wrist only to check my pulse and scans every room like it wants me dead.

Gabriel proposes the lie himself—a fake fiancée as camouflage, the kind no one questions twice.

Now he’s teaching me how to breathe when panic steals my voice and how to stand tall when fear tells me to disappear.

His hand stays steady on my back in crowds.
His presence fills the dark until I forget what it felt like to be alone.

I fall for him.
I need him to choose me when the mission says not to.

Loving him means trusting a man trained to walk away when staying could cost us everything.

My 5 star Review TITLED: Fight or Die Romance

The  story opens with 28 year old, Briar Vale attending her Aunt Rebecca's Memorial Gala.  They were incredibly close. She soon figures that she's the ONLY true mourner there in this glitzy affair. Her aunt has been dead for 3 weeks and Vale Industries was her baby.  A multi-billion business now in the hands of her Uncle Charles; Rebecca's husband. A man that needs to be seriously watched in my humble opinion.  She overhears part of a conversation between her uncle and another man. Sounds like they want her "removed" permanently ! She runs and almost dies.  Gabriel shows up and saves her. He introduces himself as Gabriel Monet (a Frenchman).
I loved the dual points of view in this story and the ruthless chase as they fight to keep her alive.  The romance is delayed but sweet none the less.  Henri at the chateau was an excellent addition.  The emotional parts of the story were well played out and believable.
The ending was really satisfying as was their ways to solve some of their problems.
