BKSPROUT due Jan 15, 2026/ Nothing Too Fancy (Book 1 of A Little Bit Ruined) by Tasha Zima

Nothing Too Fancy - a Sexy Competent Heroine Romance Booksprout

She wanted a quiet new life.
He wanted to forget everything but her.
Neither expected the spark that set their worlds ablaze.

After a divorce, veterinarian Erin Kelly moves to Ashby Lake determined to build a simple life: animals, fresh starts, zero men.
Then she kisses a devastatingly handsome stranger in a first-class lounge.

…a stranger who turns out to be her cousin’s best friend.
…a stranger who keeps showing up.
…a stranger who kisses her like he’s been waiting years.

Adrian Blake is the town’s enigmatic equestrian heir—wealthy, composed, and absolutely not looking for complications.
Until Erin walks into his life wearing boots, attitude, and a spine of pure steel.

The chemistry is instant.
The banter is dangerous.
And the heat? Downright reckless.

But Ashby Lake is watching.
Erin’s past still has teeth.
And neither of them is prepared for what real desire looks like when it stops being a game.

Small town chaos.
First-class heat.
Found family.
A heroine who saves cows at dawn and a hero who unravels for her at dusk.

--My 5 STAR review- titled: Hilarious Friends & Romance & Great Emotions
I absolutely fell in love with this story. I smiled. I laughed and felt all the emotions that Erin Kelly felt and what she invoked in others !  She was wild, funny, caring and super skilled at being a vet. Comfort was low on her scale of importance.  But her ex-husband, her college sweetheart cheated on her and then blamed her  for it ! That had stolen some of her sparkle and self worth. For a while, at least. Her best male friends sparkly, outrageous hilarious Oscar Vale hates Beige Phillip with a passion ! Erin and Oscar have been friends since third grade when SHE decided that they were going to be friends and it stuck ! Her other male bestie, Dante Morales is a quieter, more of a observing kind of gay friend and he also hates Philip and hated that she married him ! When they visited, they brought hilarious scenes. But Erin had already been communication with Oscar (Oz) and he didn't disappoint then either !
The first time that Erin and Adrian Blake met was really cute.  So much hilarious flirting before they get down to some real stuff ! I liked that !  But they were still so much fun even afterwards! Adrian is so over his head but soon finds that the one night stand means so much more and he doesn't/can't let go ! Things get tough when Calving Season hits but he really wants to be there for her. I hoped that they would make it  together that no ex or family or jobs would get in the way! Because yes, Adrian has a high powered job too that his brother is wondering if he's going to ditch .
And I loved how Erin mentioned that her cousin Chris who was picking her up at the airport was like a clueless cinnamon roll! Lol.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
