Being friends with godly people who love the Lord doesn’t just happen by chance. Pray for your spouse to have godly friends—and when he (she) finds them, give him (her) time to be with them without criticism. Those friends will refine him (her). “As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend” (Proverbs 27:17).
This doesn’t mean we can never be around anyone who isn’t a Christian, but our closest, most influential relationships should be with people who know and love the Lord.
