The One Thought to Have in Any Situation. — Graham Cooke.

The One Thought to Have in Any Situation. — Graham Cooke.

: There is a reason why the Father wants us to take every thought captive. Because every action is rooted in the thought that produced it. Your thoughts are either going to make you or they are going to break you. They are going to advance you or they are going to retard your growth in the Spirit. Wrong thinking, therefore, makes a way for negative behavior. There is only one thought to have in any situation, and that is the one that Jesus is having about it. When we are learning to walk with God, we are submitting ourselves to the way that He thinks. We are being invited into the way that He perceives any situation to be from His own heart, and His own affection, and His own intentionality. Better yet, we are being invited to see things this way, so that we can receive an upgrade. Every circumstance you have is an opportunity for you to think brilliantly about God, about yourself, about the situation you are in. The mind of Christ is the most profound, most dynamic, most incredible, amazing way of thinking ever. He sees things that you couldn’t imagine by yourself. Regardless of what...

BOOK REVIEW- EARLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN

Earls Just Want to Have Fun (Covent Garden Cubs Book 1) by [Galen, Shana]
Maxwell, Lord Dane, is intrigued when his brother ropes him into an investigation of the fiercely beautiful thief who is believed to be the lost daughter of the Marquess of Lyndon. He teaches her how to navigate the dangerous waters of the ton, but Marlowe will not escape her past so easily. Instead, Max is drawn into London's underworld, where the student becomes the teacher and love is the greatest risk of all.  AMAZON   4 stars

I did it again and read a series of books out of order.  I read book number 3- "I Kissed a Rogue" first.
I enjoyed it so much that when I saw this book, I found I already had it and so I snapped it up to read it.
I really enjoyed this one too.  Even with some of the some of the horrible ways people had to survive in London's underworld.   There was even some humor when Marlowe  says some pretty outrageous things.
Maxwell of course was in way over his head when it came to dealing with her  and where she came from.  But he was also bored with his staid, predictable life but before long he was also longing for some of that peace and quiet he had before.  But not enough to kick her to the curb.  The reader does get to see some surprising strengths in Maxwell as time goes on.
Of course there are some things that didn't add up to me, but not enough for me to quit reading the book.
I'll give just one example.  Marlowe is street smart, right?  Maxwell and his sister and mother are reasonably smart people, right?  Why didn't any of them think of coming up with a fake last name for Marlowe BEFORE she goes to her first ball?
There is a short preview at the end of this book of Book #2- The Rogue You Know.
It raises some interesting questions about Maxwel's sister, Susanna.  It got my interest, so now I want to read this story as well.  It includes Marlowe's best friend, Gideon Harrow, who was a good additon to this book.

The Psychology Behind Your Mess: Why Creative Geniuses Often Flourish in Clutter

The Psychology Behind Your Mess: Why Creative Geniuses Often Flourish in Clutter

The Psychology Behind Your Mess: Why Creative Geniuses Often Flourish in Clutter Image

My Note:  I like looking at this from a different angle :

All our lives, we've been made to feel guilty for not being organized. Organization, we were always told, holds the key to success.
Organization is a quality that’s typically impressed upon everyone pretty much from birth, and is emphasized everywhere including work, home, school - even in our bunks at sleep away camp. With countless "clean your room” commands and judgmental condemnation from authority figures about not being neat, we're raised with the idea that if cleanliness is next to Godliness, than messiness basically saves us a seat next to Satan. At the very least, it’s a quick path to failure. And none of our protests could say otherwise.
So, what good can come from being disorganized, right? Well, a lot more than our parents could ever think. Numerous studies this year have provided solid psychological evidence that messiness, rather than being symptomatic of poor standards or effort, may actually provoke creativity. Recent studies conducted by the University of Minnesota conclude that "disorderly environments encourage breaking with tradition and convention," and this settings can alter preferences, choice, and behavior.
For the disorganized among us, staying neat is often just not an option - it’s not in our DNA to put things where they belong. Usually, by the time we reach adulthood, we typically give up any pretense of even trying to stay organized. Some of us are perfectly happy in our clutter. It’s where we work and create to the best of our abilities. It’s a comfort zone for deep thought and sincere reflection. Our mess is our own, and anything outside of that feels uncomfortable.
Psychological scientist Kathleen Vohs, from the University of Minnesota, and two of her colleagues predicted that being around messiness would lead people away from convention, in favor of new directions. Their intuitions, as reported in Psychological Science, were borne out: among other conclusions, their experiment concluded that messy rooms provoke more creative thinking, and working in chaos has certain advantages. In one study, college students were placed in either a messy or neat office and asked to dream up new uses for Ping-Pong balls. Those in messy spaces generated ideas that were significantly more creative, according to two independent judges, than those plugging away in offices where stacks of papers and other objects were neatly aligned.
“Disorderly environments seem to inspire breaking free of tradition,” Dr. Vohs and her co-authors conclude in the study, “which can produce fresh insights.”
So, how does this study translate into an excuse for our rooms being pigsties? Creative thinking is a way of looking at problems or situations from a fresh perspective that suggests unorthodox solutions (which may look unsettling at first). So a messy room is a disorderly environment, breaking free from the more traditional clean room (orderly environment), and can provoke more creative thinking - at least to the naturally disorganized piggy. Unconventionally disorganized desks can have a sense of organization only the creator can operate through.
In fact, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein, and Mark Twain all had very messy workspaces. Einstein himself said, “If a cluttered desk is a sign of a cluttered mind, then what are we to think of an empty desk?”
This evidence is not, of course, an excuse for otherwise tidy people to suddenly become messy: leaving trash on your office desk won’t magically have you waking up one morning more creative. But for those of us who are genuinely disorganized and have fought all of our lives against forces (parents, teachers, drill sergeants) who have refused to believe there’s creativity in our chaos, this is exciting science.

BOOK REVIEW- I KISSED A ROGUE

I Kissed a Rogue (Covent Garden Cubs Book 3) by [Galen, Shana]
Once she spurned the man...
When the Duke of Lennox hires Sir Brook Derring, England's best investigator, to find his daughter, Brook intends only to rescue the lady and return to his solitary life. He deals with London's roughest criminals every day of the week; surely he should be able to endure seeing his first love again-the perfect girl who broke his heart...
Now her life depends on him
Lady Lillian-Anne Lennox has always done her best to live up to her father's standards of perfection-at the cost of following her heart. When she's kidnapped and her perfect life is shattered, Lila has another chance. Together, Lila and Brook navigate not only the dark and deadly side of London, but the chasm of pride and prejudice that divides them.   AMAZON  4.5 STARS

I really liked this story.  The plot was unusual and I enjoyed it a lot.  There were plenty of twists and turns to keep my interest, which never lagged. In fact the very first chapter opened with a bang. The relationship between the main characters kept things hopping too. No Inta-Forgiveness here.  I liked that and the fact that there was regret and hurt but its not so heavy that it bogged the story down.  Brook had  legitimate grievances with Lila, that stemmed from their past history.  As the story unfolds, you begin to see just how cruel she had been as a sefish young beauty.  We also began to see some of the hurts that she has lived through in her selfish family.  Brook began over time to see some possible changes in how she was now.  But his thinking is, "is it real and what does it matter now?"  I liked Brook, who has been somewhat hardened by life and his past experience with Lila.  He still couldn't hide his kindess and honor that did still exist.
The villain of the piece was exactly that.  Cruel and Cunning.  And you will find out that there is more than one, villain.
There will at some point sex and a HEA, but it will be hard fought for.
