My 5 Star Review TITLED: Family, Threats & Attraction !
Adrian has been concerned about his cousin Teresa every since he heard that she had been missing for weeks. She HAD been kidnapped while he was on a job, out of country and out of contact. Now he's back and wants to see for himself if her now husband Vito Conti coerced her. Is she being help against her will? Plus she asked for his help specifically about a threat against the Conti family ! She's especially worried about Caterina. Beautiful, stubborn, intelligent Caterina ! Adrian is only partially okay with how things are going with his cousin but is furious when he finds out that Caterina has NOT been told about him coming to safe guard her.
Things do NOT go well at Adrian and Caterina''s first meeting. But he reuses to lie to her about the danger ! She's furious of course which he knows will make things harder but tells her so but he's great at his job and although he's being paid by her family, he won't be controlled by them. She is the client. I loved that !
Things get really dicey, with dangers ramping up. I loved all the kids in the family. Adrian didn't dislike kids but saw their vulnerabilities within the family. And they are a loud group of MANY people that gathered in one place giving him an actual headache. I could see that.
The heat can't help but get hotter between Cat and Adrian. Although he does try to fight it; knowing it could place her in more danger. By dividing his focus.
It was a cleverly written story with intense but interesting people that I enjoyed reading about. And the mystery of who and what the real threat was about kept me reading on. That threat about the killer cutting of the branches of the Conti family was chilling in it's delivery.
I read this book through Booksprout and this is my honest thoughts about it !
