BOOK REVIEW- Wild West Wife by Susan Mallery

Wild West Wife (Montana Mavericks) by [Mallery, Susan]
Return to 1800s Whitehorn, Montana, in this fan favorite from New York Times
bestselling author Susan Mallery.

All Haley Winthrop wants is a chance at building a home and family. So, after
corresponding with a wealthy rancher, Lucas Stone, she finds herself in a stagecoach bound
for Montana, where she will become Lucas's wife. But before she even arrives her coach is
held up by a bandit. And he doesn't want money; he wants Haley. He has some disturbing
things to tell her about her future husband…

Jesse Kincaid is only interested in one thing: to take revenge on the man who had his
father killed. So he lies in wait and kidnaps the man's fiancée from her passing
stagecoach. But he didn't count on the bride-to-be, Haley, being so beautiful, so
beguiling. Can he convince her that she's about to marry the wrong man before it's too
late?   AMAZON  3 STARS

Haley was a strong, enduring woman.  She was was city girl, who began to like Montana.  An orphan who had to become street wise but she also had some naivety when it came to her fiance. Her dream of a loving, kind man wasn't really even based in fact. Stoner was someone she didn't even really know but she had given him credit for all of these magical qualities of goodness.

Jesse has a much more balanced view of Stoner; knowing from experience that he is a cruel man, ruthless and without mercy.  It's just getting the proof of what he's been doing is what the problem is.  He's covered his tracks really well and because of people's fear and his power, not too many people have stood against him.

At one point Haley does something so stupid, I pretty much threw my hands up in the air and said,  "Aye Yai Yai".  Does she find some of the truth she is looking for?  Oh, yeah she does but she placed herself in danger too. Oh she does get out of it but then again does something really stupid AGAIN.  Ok, I know her motivation but it had me shaking my head again.  She has grit I'll give her that.

Everything gets taken care of and Stoner does get taken down.  It won't be easy and there will be some twists and turns and some more danger.

I did like the side story of Daisy and her attempts to also help Jesse get justice for the death of his father.  She too is leading a dangerous life by sleeping with the enemy.  Very dangerous indeed.

There is a H.E.A. and a good Epilogue included.
